Hi Guys,

I really want to do a globe upgrade to my VY SS, since I'm really sick of the yellow light that the current globes produce. I want to modernize with globes that produce a whiter light and hopefully get better perfomance as well. Now I know that I need H4 (normal headlights), H1 (high beams), T10 (Parker LED) & H3 (fog lights). What are most people using? I've starting looking Philips Vision (both Crystal & Diamomd series), but not sure if they are worth the money. Are there any other brands of globes that I should look at that will provide a nice white light & better performance than the standard globes that came from factory? Also in regards to colour, should I be looking at 4300K or something higher? Also remember that the VY SS did not come out with projectors. Thanks guys

Ive found since putting in led parkers, my normal headlights have gotten brighter... I dunno if they are or its just me lol.
4300k will be good, less attention from the police

Thanks Poolkeeper. Where did you get the T10 LEDs from & what brand where they? There's heaps on ebay, but no sure which ones to get

Yeah ebay, me and a mate have them, no problems with them

It does make the headlights look very average though, but Im not too worried about it...

Nice find. Thanks mate. Definitely worth giving them a go for that price.

Now for the H3 and H4 globes. Has anyone had good experience with Philips Diamond Vision globes or any type of Xenon gas filled globe?

A while back I was doing night shift for about 18 months and had to drive 40km on country highways. I was sick of the standard lights after 4 weeks so I put some philips +30 in. Around $50. It was the best $50 I spent! They are a really good clear light and have that whiter look. I didnt bother changing the H1 as the H4 is high and low anyway. They also have a +50 at around $70 I think. Sometimes you do have to pay a bit more to have a good quality time.

I had the Phillips fitted and they were good for about 18 months then both headlights blew and 1 of the parkers,
I have put the old globes back in the headlights and used one spare Phillips in the parkers
The auto electrician says not to run them in the day time due to the heat they produce
The fog lights are still ok but they were getting damn hot in the daytime also, but since I was told in another thread that is illegal to use them in the daytime I have stopped putting them on

I put the Phillips in mine. I can't remember the exact name however they set me back a bit over the $70 mark. The first night I had them in I kept trying to dim my lights for oncoming traffic as I thought they were on high beam. The bulbs that were in it were just a standard bulb of unknown age so some of the improvement may have been the quality of the bulbs in it however it made a big difference so it is worth paying more in my opinion.

Thanks heaps for the replies guys. So the Philips globes might be the way to go. From what I can work out the Philips Vision Crystal & Diamond series should give slightly better performance than the standard globes...but are mainly for styling looks (ie nice bright white or blue colour), whereas the Philips Plus series (ie plus 50, plus 100 etc) are more for performance rather than styling (where the colour might still be yellowish)

Has anyone tried the gas filled Xenon globes?

If you do a bit of country driving etc you could get a 50W HID kit for your high beam in like 4300 or 5000k. You shouldn't have your high beam on when there is traffic anyway so there should be no issues there and no matter what aftermarket bulb you get they wouldn't touch the lumen output of a 50W HID kit. For the low beam you could try the Philips Xtreme Vision or Osram nightbreakers. I have heard they are pretty decent for a NON-HID headlight globe.

Thanks mate, I just purchased a few sets off eBay. I was just wondering if these LEDs are polarity sensitive? If they are is there any way to tell the correct polarity or is it a trial and error thing? Also, can they be damaged by putting them in the wrong way? And do I have to be careful when handling these T10 LEDs?

Thanks for the reply. I've been looking at the Philips Xtreme Vision. I might also look into Osram as well

Every T10 LED I have tried is polarity sensitive. I just try them and if they don't work, spin them around.

Phillips crystal vision 50+ I have found worked well in my vy. Whatever you do don't go a higher wattage, stick to 50/55w globes.

Thanks mate. Are these Crystal vision 50plus globes bright white? Or do they still produce a yellowish colour?
