Hi , i am after a set of new tyres for the VZ SS. Current tyres are Maxxis Z1 235/40 18, apparently they dont have these anymore but have been offered the V1's for $179 from Bob Jane, $195 from Tyrepower. Does anyone have any experience with these. The Z1's have done 38000, and are nearly dead. Any other options under $250 a tyre would be appreciated. I am mainly after good mileage tyres with good ability in the wet. Thanks.

Maxxis is shit!

Toyo's are good, mine have lasted for a fair bit, and are good in the wet.

Kuhmo KU19 are a good cost effective option

Pirelli does make shit tyres too and for that price they won't be great. $250 is ballpark for a good tyre like an RE002 Bridgestone adrenalin. You won't get 40 000 k's out of them. But then you won't get that out of any performance tyre unless you spend bulk time on the highway.

most people I know run Kumho KU31 / Federal 595 SS, can't say I can tell any difference except between those and say the 595 RSR / KU36, but no thanks for a daily driver

+1. Comfortable, quiet, reasonable life and reasonable grip.

My local Bridgestone Tyre Centre had them for $215 each fitted a few weeks back - RE002 Adrenalins. A great tyre for the money.

Local Bob Jane quoted the following.

Falken 912 $259
Zetum ZU 37 $159
Bridgestone RE002 $320
Goodyear F1 Directional 5 $269

They actually really promoted the Zetum, the pattern looks good. They come out of the Kumho factory.

linglongs are good :stick: :)

i've used Federal 595's for a few years on various cars, and although deemed a cheap alternative, they hold their own very well in the dry and in the wet. against the RE040 they have better dry grip and lower road noise, but are a little less grippy in the wet.

Federals are a cheap shit tyre. How you can compare them to Bridgestones is beyond me.

I have the Directional 5's and like them. Great wet and dry grip and deadly quiet. Go to a Goodyear branded store and you'll get them cheaper than that.

Yeah was quoted $254 from the Goodyear Shop here, although can get 12 months interest free at Bob Jane.

Hopefully they have better grip than the F1. I had them once before and wet or dry they were one of the worst tires I have owned.
