Rear main seal - VX SS

Hey,

Tried searching but have come up with limited info.. Rear main seal is buggered on my VX SS.
1) Ballpark figure for a shop to replace the rear main seal?
2) Anything else should be done at the same time?
3) Any recommendations for shops in Sydney?

I got quoted roughly $500 to have the rear main seal changed a couple of years ago, but have heard of people being quoted alot more.
Mine actually turned out to be a leak from the back of the sump gasket and not the rear main seal.

Yes sump gasket is common as well, the leaks around those areas are just about impossible to diagnose
100% correct, I have had cam angle sensor and seal replaced, rear main done and rear of sump. (Sump gasket)

Can the sump gasket be done with the engine in the car? I was told the engine has to be removed, which made it an expensive exercise

My mate has the car lifted up on the hoist with the engine held up from above and then drops the cross member etc as far as I know.

Thanks, one more question though... would it be a rope seal or a neoprene seal?? Can't find any info on it anywhere..

Get them to change the oil pump pickup "O" ring at the same time Ryan.

While there down there they may as well put new bearings in and rod bolts
