Hi guys and gals,
Just have a quick question, have searched high and low for pics, manuals everything but have had no luck
i just bought a vr statesman 5l for my work bus, is a nice tidy clean car with newish motor,
My question is in regards to the dash lights, i get 1 amber light which pops up when only the headlights are on
but not sure what it means,
looks like a sun with an exclamation mark in the middle of it, next to the engine light
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Had a VR for years (statesman), not exactly sure, guessing it might be a light blown/fuse? Check all lighting works when it is turned on.
Just trying to remember what it was, i think i had it on, but was faulty with LPG i think!

it is a 'brake fail' light
check that all your brake lights are all working,or reverse lights or even the number plate light

not brake fail, but brake light "globe" fail. if its only coming on when your headlights are on, then one of your rear park lights is possibly out. if it were coming on when you press the brake pedal, it would indicate a brake light is out. The BCM controls it and can sometimes get it wrong. If all your tail lights are working properly, check and clean all the connections. If its still showing, there is also a "relearn" procedure which is the following:
1. Ensure all rear lamp bulbs are working. Replace/repair any faulty bulbs/wiring.
2. Turn ignition off, parking lamps off and stop lamps off.
3. Remove and re-fit fuel pump fuse F23 from engine compartment relay housing, to reset BCM.
4. Start engine and allow to idle.
5. Switch parking lamps on.
6. Wait 5 seconds.
7. Press brake pedal and hold.
8. Wait 5 seconds.
9. Switch parking lamps off.
10. Wait 5 seconds.
11. Bulb re-learn is now complete, turn engine off and release brake pedal.

Brake Fail as quoted from the manual genius
yet strange that it was explained as a globe fail :jerk:

Ill say it again...brake light GLOBE failure. This is SEPARATE to the brake FAIL warning light. The globe fail warning light is located to left of the check engine light on the VS level 3 clusters (funnily enough where the OP has stated it is- who knew). The brake FAIL light is a SEPARATE warning light located two lights to the right of that between the oil light and the left indicator light.
Twat. Go read the manual again.
