Perhaps you could give some more info mate?
How old are you?
Where abouts do you live?
Any previous insurance, claims or convictions?
All these details will help people better advise you.:goodjob:

if you have lowered the car and have extractors you may be better going to Just Car to at least get some cover, you can shop around later to check on prices.
Go with pay by the month till you decide

Give Shannon's a go. Great for mods and on par or cheaper then the rest.

Got a letter from NRMA and they dropped the agreed value and raised my monthly?? Gave Shannon's a buzz and they kept it insured @ 40k and was cheaper monthly..

As stated above, Shannon's seems to be the go.. NRMA didn't mind my mods but they can now blow it out their arse altogether cos they didn't wanna come to the table with a better offer, even after 10 years as a customer..

Even with the discounts the big 3 usuals were offering, Shannon's won hands down for service, mods accepted, agreed value etc.

The only problem with shannon's is their online application is so long and tedious

I would avoid the NRMA based on my experience.

ive just moved 2 car policies from allianz to nrma and im saving $70 a month. And as said above mods arent a problem,so based on that they get my vote.

Which Insurance Company are saying this to you?

I’ve found most will insure for these very minor and common mods, some will over charge you but still insure if you’re silly enough to hand your money across and only a small handful say no.

NRMA for me.

Both VE and VT (both with mods) covered without question, with NRMA knowing the mods and for an agreed price I'm happy with.

The critical factor here is the OP's age, which he didn't mention. I suspect given what he was told that he's under 25 in which case typically only JustCar will insure him (usually with a huge excess).

Once you reach 25, assuming a reasonable history, many others will insure cars with mods though usually not the no-frills players like Coles etc.. My ute is insured with AAMI with all mods, including cam, listed and with a high agreed value, for just over $1,000 even after an at fault claim last year. However, as mentioned a squizillion times before, location is a major factor in price so quoting premiums means SFA unless you include info such as location, rating, agreed value etc..

That's all covered in dozens of threads already. See http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/search.php?searchid=312385 (or if that doesn't work just search on "AAMI NRMA Shannons" - you'll find heaps of reading!!!).

PS Interesting that the OP starts a "need info ASAP" thread at 10:53AM, logs off not long after and hasn't bothered logging back on again. I'm guessing Gen Y. :nutkick:

Why do we have these rubbish threads anyway?

As if the members here can tell you why insurance companies that cover basic mods for most of us won’t do the same for you.

Maybe just pick up the phone like the rest of us do and speak to every single one of them and find out what they do and don’t insure and for how much and post the info up here for the members to compare.

You need to add a bit to the topic, you haven’t even bothered to list the companies that said bye bye. The only company mentioned is AAMI for being too pricey for you.

I’m over 25 and have a 2010 VE Ute lowered, full exhaust, OTR, rims and tune all disclosed to AAMI for $762.64 per annum ($64/month).
Nothing wrong with AAMI’s pricing, maybe you should ask them why so expensive ($180/month) for you for a 2003 VY Ute.

most insurers will put you on no claim rating 1 straight away if you have not had an accident record, I have been on rating 1 for my whole driving period. Also things that Shannons will recognise for discount is CAMS licenced/club affiliation, minimal use of vehicle, garaged/non garaged to name a few.

Ive been with Shannons for 8yrs now and whilst I pay a little extra, I have everything to the letter on my policy and no argument agreed value.

youi is for people who hardly use their vehicles and have standard no modification cheaper cars.

Unfortunately you may just have to cop it as your ute is for commercial use, may be an option to instigate combining it into the same company that does your business insurances? All our company cars are insured by Lumley, LSV is their division for modified vehicles.

OK, apologies for the Gen Y comment I added as an afterthought due to currently having some problems with a Gen Y relative. However, all of my post before the last minute addition was intended to assist you given the lack of detail in your original post. That last bit was an attempt at a bit of humour, albeit a failed one and at your expense and for that I again apologise, but the many, many on here who know me will tell you I'm far from the keyboard warrior you accuse me of being.

The quality of the threads are starting to sound the ‘death rattle’ for the forum, not to mention the quality of some new members and their attacks against the few people here that still bother to post replies.

What insurance company, what exhaust, what OTR, what power will I make and it goes on and on.

Isn’t the forum moderated anymore?

mattnsw

Buddy the forum is moderated by a great bunch of people who are all volunteers, imagine how it would be on here without these guys?
I reckon they all do a fantastic job but they are not on a paid roster and work in their own time with little thanks.

I’m not attacking the Moderators, I know they do a thankless job for nothing and I know it’s late as well.

I’m venting my frustrations on the quality of the forum threads of late and the argumentative posts by some of the new members.

Sorry buddy, as you said it is getting late and I thought you were complaining about the moderators (someone else has been giving them a very undeserved hard time tonight) and I agree about what you say
about some of the argumentative posts also.
