So my radiator has been losing water for a couple of weeks so today I decided to bite the bullet and get it tested. It turns out that's it has split. The guy at Natrad told me it's the usual place the radiators split. So I get a quote to replace the radiator with red coolant and labour. For a genuine one it's $450 compared to $400 for non-genuine. I get back to work and decide to call the local dealership to see what price they will quote me. I almose fell off the chair. The guy on the phone also noticed my amazement and asked if I had gotten a cheaper price. They quoted me $910. Double!!! When I told him Natrad had quote me $450 he said that they don't use genuine radiators. When I told him it was a genuine one he went quiet and I said thank you and hung up the phone. I would've expect $100 - $200 difference but $460 is a bit of a joke.

$450 including coolant and labour can't possibly be a genuine Holden radiator-unless they stuffed up the quote. That is about the retail price of a radiator before anything else.
Chinese ebay radiators? Hmmm...

Davo, half the bloody VE is made in china these days, what's the difference? Can buy 3 of those radiators for the price of a genuine one. They'll prob last just as long.

Well that's what he quoted me. I will find out tomorrow. Is there a part number I can check to ensure it is a genuine one?
If your buying from an natrad store a genuine one will have aptr followed by four numbers as the part number, also calsonic box also.

im on my 3rd one in my vy II ss.
the 1st one died at around ~75K, the replacement which was ~600$ from holden fitted lasted 6 months lol, but they replaced it free of charge.
and every other Holden commo i've had, the radiators last 4-5 years at the most and split.

Not genuine but its new and $165. Can't see it being any worse than a genuine holden one...

If it is going in a manual car might be ok but if using on an auto the intank cooler for the auto can be 1/4 the size of the genuine radiator.

Im assuming that the radiator for a VZ Clubby is not too far different from the SS but I just paid $420 to have mine replaced and it was delivered from the Holdan dealership to my mechanics workshop. Granted he does do me good deals but I had no idea thats what the genuine ones cost..
genuine are calsonic i believe
Is this true??? can anyone else confirm

The guy told me he's using a genuine one and it's a calsonic.
Genuine is calsonic. The $450 sounds like a price for rad only
Natrad part numbers are
APTR3325C for auto ( C stands for calsonic)
APTR3328C for a man.
Dont both with changing tanks the bottom tank will fail not long after due to the size and therfore bowing of the tank from pressure.

All done. Picked up the car and the invoice has the part number 3325C on it. All happy and good service. Can't ask for more. Saved myself $460 as opposed to the local Holden dealership. Also spoke to the person who carried out the work and was very knowledgeable.
