I was on the way home from taking the little ones to day care yesterday morning when the car developed a loud squeal from the front end.
I pulled over, killed the engine and poped the bonnet and noticed some liquid droplets on the left hand side near all the belts. Ive been told that the belts dont squeal on these things cause of the pre-tensioners. My first thought was the water pump but there was no visable signs of it leaking. I also replaced the radiator about a month ago and it was fine, no marks or "wetness" anywhere. I noticed on the bottom bolt on the thermostat housing had a watermark on it though like it had been leaking for a little while. 2 weeks ago I got a check engine light and when I plugged in the tech 2 it showed a thermostat error, cleared it and it didnt come back so I figured it was a false code. So after this episode, Im pretty sure that it is whats causing the issue.
My question is, is it worth replacing the old with the same or is there a decent upgrade? Im hopefully going to do a cam swap in the near future so would it be something I should do now while I need to?
Car is a VZ Clubby R8
Thanks in advance,
