...19 to 20l/100kms????
thats terrible fuel consumption

my near new SSv wagon (just coming up 8000km) is getting about 14 (last fill was 14.15l/100km)
and I know they get better with age and distance ...

Sounds like a bad tune to me. Mine gets around 13.5 to 14 around town and as low as 8.3 on the HWY. That is with some WOT included!!! Mine has similiar mods but with VCM OTR, HM exhaust and Mario (Autotecnique) tune. I believe Walkinshaw tunes are generic and do not take in to account the differences each and every engine are cabable of delivering, good and bad...

My S2 SS Ute is getting 17-19L/100km around town. It's probably my driving style.

pre tune - 16L/100
tuned 98 - 12L/100
tuned Eflex 15L/100

Our E3 GTS will see 16's in the suburban stop / start crap ... but 16's is about as bad as we have ever seen.

Generally average around 15 (still mostly suburban stuff) and that will very quickly drop with some higher speed cruising.

I have an E2 GTS and like Nick i get about 15.8-16.4 around town (exhuast, tune & OTR) and I don't drive it like I stole it but the loud pedal is there for a reason and highways is low 10's. Maybe get the tune looked at

Fuel consumption figures are next to meaningless without quoting average speed!! What one person experiences as their "around town" driving can be totally different to someone else depending on traffic density, number of traffic lights, roundabouts, speed humps etc.. The only way to at least do a reasonable comparison (which still doesn't take into account driving style) but at least takes into account some factors is to quote an average speed.

Also, as SSVHM2.5 said, the Walkinshaw "tune" (hardly justifies being called a tune) is very generic and basically a waste of time/money. It's like an ultra safe mail order tune.

I was just going to say the same thing, without the avg km/h and driving style they are just random numbers.

The other thing not mentioned is how much ass it's hauling too!

Spot on, my now traded VX II LS1 Calais would do about 16.7 l/100Km travelling in peak Sydney traffic avarerage about 30Km/h, in school holidays about 15.7 l/100Km, driving around Brisbanes outer suburbs about 11.5 l/100km. All can be described as "around town". Sydney just seems to suck the fuel out of the thing, as soon as you hit the end of the F3, whammo your fuel just vanishes real quick.

19-21 per 100kms for my MAFLESS tuned and OTR'd M6 E3 GTS. Sounds bad but my wife does a lot of very short trips around the suburbs on a daily basis and when I drive it, I tend to have a heavier foot. I'm lucky to get 320kms out of a full tank but doesn't really bother me too much.

Im not going to quote averages but will quote distance instead. In the SS (exhaust, headers, mafless tune, OTR, LSX manifold, mild cam) I was only averaging around 300-320 (at absolute best) k's per tank on the daily grind to and from work. I thought that was dreadful. I still think the tune was using slightly more fuel than it should have been.

The Clubby - well Im wrapt. At this posint, with OTR and driven hard, Ive improved by at least 100k's per tank on work grind alone. On the highway its been below 10's. I love the consumption on this car.

A couple of times a week I get in the car at the servo after refuelling, reset the computer and it says...Distance to Empty 490 maybe 500kms kms

Best I have ever seen was on my old SI SSv wagon. After a stint up the Hume to Winton, it said at the servo after refuelling... Distance to Empty 900kms.
who needs a 4cylinder crap box for wheels!

E3 Clubby, manual, avg speed 40 kph, fuel consumption 13.3ltrs per 100km. On the hwy it would sit between 8-9-10ltrs. The average hasn't changed since I picked up the car new it has now done 25,000kms and I drive the car pretty hard (legally of course).

That's pretty good adr8!! My cammed L76 (L98 effectively now with DOD removed) would be on around 16 litres per 100km at ave 40kmh with the A6.

I can usually pretty accurately guess what my mileage will be by looking at my ave speed. I work on a base of ave 50kmh = 15 litres per 100km and every 10kmh higher or lower makes about 1 litre per 100km difference. If I do a lot of idling it is worse than that and on the highway it can be heading down towards only a 5kmh increase in ave speed can result in improvement of 1 litre per 100km. Best I've seen over a 30km freeway trip from fill is 9.1 litres/100km at ave about 87kmh.

People definetly need to quote the average speed, without it the fuel consumption figures are meaningless
ie/ mine uses xxL/100km around town.

my VZ clubbie m6 uses at an average 45km/hr approx 14Ltrs/100km

myt VY SS averaged at ~32km/hr approx 16-17Ltrs/100km ( peak hour driving )

the VE sportswagon svc6 lo9an car that i had for a week, averaged at ~40km/hr approx 12.2 Ltrs/100km

2009 VE GTS, cammed, mafless, diff etc. Long term average per the trip computer over 25,000 kms is 17.0 L/100 this is at an average speed of 39.7 kph. I sit in Sydney traffic for 45 minues each way to and from work. On a past trip to Brisbane I was getting 570-600 kms from a tank which is close enough to 11L/100kms.

As for petrol its the cheapest thing I put in the car.

I am pretty happy with the fuel consumption, but after reading the other posts I should qualify my post, in that, the car rarely travels in peak hour traffic, that’s probably why it averages 13.3ltrs at an average of 40km/h.

As others have mentioned, sitting idling in traffic would increase fuel use. Didn’t think of this prior to posting.

Would explain why your getting such good results, mines maf tuned and im getting around 16.8 around town with heavy stop start traffic.

My VX gets on average 12.2L/100 with 52km/h

Today on the way into town with about 10km to go I reset the display, got 8.7L/100 with 62.7km/h but taking it pretty easy. With the A4 + 4.11 diff 80km/h is about the best economy.

avg is around 39

my old SS use to get 22-23l/100km doing the local run around ave speed was lucky to get above 25km/h, got it tuned it went down to 18-20l/100km on the hwy it use to get between 8-9l/100km.
My diesel capy on around 11-12.5L/100km but my kids have changed schools this so the mrs sits in more bumper to bumper traffic taking them there so ave speed is lucky to get 20km/h now.

At ave speed 39kmh my consumption would probably be around low 16s per 100km and that's a cammed A6! A manual LS3 should do even better! If you have the money I'd suggest taking it elsewhere for a full dyno tune. I have NFI what a Walkinshaw tune costs but my understanding from guys in the industry whose word I trust is that they are a very generic tune which just gets plugged into every car as is and as such are SFA better than the stock tune.
