Basically, myself and my brother ride motorcross and have mucked around making videos and photos etc, however we would LOVE to be able to fly a heli around, with a camera attached for another scope. Herein lies the problem, what we have found online are either terrible (cheap) indoor heli's with an inbuilt camera thats of poor resolution.
What we were hoping, was that we could be pointed in the direction of a heli that we could possibly attach an iPhone 4S or similar to - HD video and easily edited videos etc. At 112grams its not a MASSIVE weight, however it certainly could affect the way a heli flies. The other thing we have found is as we ride outdoors - we really would appreciate probably 30-45mins of flight time, possibly unobtainable from an electric heli ? as we are outdoors, charging becomes an issue if the flight time is only 10 mins or so. Possibly a gas powered heli is our only option ?
Cheers

Maybe ask Team 404 what they are using, good results! :headbang:
I know they have a chopper in some scenes, but sure they started off with something like you are after.

Something like the Parrot AR Drone (http://ardrone2.parrot.com/i-want-it/) comes to mind, but Im not sure it will carry a camera, or if the internal video feed is of decent enough quality.

100% Forget getting an rc heli if you think that you can buy one and suddenly be a pro and using it for recording video. Takes years and years of practice........and you still crash.
Your best bet would be to buy an off the shelf setup like the parrot ar drone. best option would be to build a quad or hexcopter, but if you havent been "into heli's" before then the build won't be straight forward.

There was an article in a Perth newspaper recently about filming using an octocopter, but I can't find it. Imagine it is only for serious video photography as it's very expensive, starting at around $2,750 for the quadrocopter and going up from there. Not very helpful I know, but it's interesting to see what's out there in the market.

What about setting up a zip line or similar?

That's a good idea but it would be very limited in movement. Also, is there an easy way to adjust speed?

You want the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 - http://ardrone2.parrot.com/ar-drone-2/specifications/
Now with HD Video Recording onboard!
I have not had video attached to remote helis but have flown many of them... If u are not a confident flyer then do not even approach this... I started with small helis flying only a few feet off the ground... Cause when they crash u brake the top and tail rotors easy as... Electric helis are soooo much more reliable. Nitro methane helis cost me so much i gave up! Helis due to centrifugal vibration need oil based cameras or major after stabilization effects with the production software... I would if u really want to do this look at the hd drone... Or wire a elec heli with a second camera controller as it is soooo hard to try and fly the thing let alone get any usable footage...
