Car is 3.6 Litre A4. I sat the car on 100-110Km for the whole trip across the Nullabor. Cruise Control used about 99% of time.
No difficulty passing the Road Trains - those drivers are very courteous and are on the ball!! Best laugh was this bloke and his missus in a black Hyundai Getz from Kalgoorlie. They were with us overnight in Eucla. We are both loaded to go last Thursday morning and he is out of the gates first. i stopped him because he had a flat RHF tyre!! He drives it back and unloads the whole hatchback to get to the spare tyre! We meet again about midday at Nullabor Roadhouse. Once again flashes pass me at about 125km/hr. 20 km short of Ceduna, he's been stopped and done over by a plain clothes Ceduna Highway Holden.
Between Eucla and Norseman, huge amount of road kill. Near Eucla on the way over, there was a dead camel being done over by the eagles and the crows. The camel had been clobbered by a Road Train and the road train was damaged. Next i heard was that a helicopter and a rifleman had been sent out to shoot the remaining herd of camels as they were too near highway 1 for safety reasons. it's a tragedy to see eagles dead on the road but the the poor birds can only take off the way they are facing. if you are closing at 30 metres/ second, and the bird is facing you, and it takes them about 4-5 wing movements to get enough height to clear a car then they are really vulnerable. On the other hand, very hard to outsmart or even get near to a crow

A couple of years ago I was discussing this with a work mate. The next morning I hit a crow and it caught in my ladder and roof racks! Usually very cunning.
