Hi guys, bit of a noob question is there any special way to swap them or is it just as simple as replacing new for old or is there an idle learn I have to do?
And it's a manual vx ss if that matters

Another question, I'm looking for how to do a PCM reset too!
If you have your radio code just leave the battery unplugged overnight before the battery swap and that should clear the PCM too. Just replace the battery and then follow on from there.
When ever I've done a battery swap/PCM reset I just go for a drive and let it re-learn. I dont know if thats the right thing to do or not.

Does disconnecting the battery do the same thing as removing the PCM fuse?
And does the car need to be above 80c?

If you have the battery changed at a battery centre, they have a small portable battery that they plug into your cig/acess area - so you don't lose radio codes etc. If you want to do a PCM reset, the battery needs to be fully disconnected for at least 10mins - it doesn't matter what the temperature is.
If you want to do a PCM reset via the PCM fuse - there is a particular sequence that you need to go through & I'm pretty sure having the car at operating temp is one of them. Easier just to pull the battery....

Unless VX's are different to VY's, you shouldnt have to reenter the code for the radio if swapping the battery over or doing a PCM reset. Atleast I havent had to.

on my old VX SS, when I swapped the battery (done in my garage) I had to re-enter the radio code
everything else was fine :)

AFAIK up untill the VX the factory sound systems had a pin code for security which had to be entered in if
the battery went flat or was dissconected.
The VY and later models had the sound system coded (or matched up,) with the BCM so they did not have a pin code they were matched with a Tech2.
So VY onwards there was no pin code to enter or worry about, but it makes it harder to swap factory sound systems as you need a Tech2 instead of just a pin code.

Some cars idle a touch low initially but learn and adjust almost immediately, on most cars if you turn the ignition on and push the gas pedal to the floor a few times the car will usually idle smooth instantly I'm guessing the tps voltage sets something in the pcm.
Only thing to note is take of the negative terminal first and put back last.

All good guys thanks, left disconnected the battery for 10 mins and when I put the new battery in and all I had to do was the stereo pin numb! And it idled smooth no trouble at all

I know when i left my battery out of my VY over night there was no way in hell i could get it to idle on its own. Took it for a 10min blast and it was all sweet again.

Just a little update, after changing my battery I finally filled it up with fuel and I got 700km on the distance to empty I normally get about 550km and on the odd occasion 600km and I'd normally do about 80ish km before it drops!
But today it started at 700km and then I drove 20km and it already dropped to 690km, so what I'm trying to say I think it's going to be a bit more accurate maybe
And on a side note this was the first time driving in the dark and my high beams seem a lot brighter

None, all i did was put a new battery in( old one was leaking and would only have 12.2v in it after I left it for a few hours then checked with a multi meter) now the new one has 12.7v and when I start the alternator is putting out 14.3v
