Ok so I have just purchased some of these guns http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/OVAL/
Has anyone seen or installed on there car before?
I want to put them directly after the extractors and want to know if they will fit. I've researched a bit about them and some people put it between the cat's and mufflers???? What's the point?
Any insight much appreciated

If you get cought with them before the cats you will get raped by the epa but if you put them after the cats the penalty won't be so harsh, that's my take on it anyway.

Have them installed at the bend prior to the rear mufflers on a dual 3" system VE SSV - dynoed 20 plus RWHP difference when open

I have a pair of them straight after the cats - they are farkin loud when open even a touch
Good thing is if a motor goes bad on them, a replacement is only $70 locally

I had a set of these for awhile. They don't sound great open, and they leak a little bit when closed so it always sounds like theres a hole in the exhaust.

I found that if the shaft isn't coupled the the motor properly, they don't seal well - if coupled together and aligned nicely, no leaks!

Only if caught using them on the street which I wont do :D
So the general consensus is after the cats. Is it possible to install them before the cats, straight after the extractors?
Did you guys get the oval or the round?
I'm going in to Rocket industries to see the difference this Sat. Someone told me that if you do it before the cat the back pressure is to high and it will force them open.
How much louder is it after the cats?
I have a difillipo 2.5 inch with high flow cats and difillipo extractors, will it ruin its note?
Sir nemesis, what exhaust do you have?

I had mine installed straight after the extractors, which were DF 1-7/8 4-1's. The rest of the exhaust doesn't really matter, but it was a twin 3". Mine were the round ones, 3" units.

Thats basically what i want to do..... I know it will be loud as hell but is that it? No definition or nice V8 cam rumble?

Sounds OK at idle, and OK at cruise (lots of drone though). Any throttle and it sounds like a bush-pig ute though.

Hmmmm, I love loud and whant it to sound tough when it open not horrible.
Did you remove yours? Was it hard to repair to original?

I changed my exhaust and the cutouts went with the old one when I sold it. Wouldn't be hard for a shop to weld a plate over the hole if they were removed though.

Ok thanks for your input. I'm in two minds now though. Don't want to ruin a perfectly good exhaust and whats the point if it sounds rubbish.
I think it's gonna be a trial and error. Never know I might love it. I might hate it...... Who cares just wont tell the mrs right?

Its worth trying. If you don't like it, rip them out, patch up the hole and sell them. There will always be someone interested.
I'm actually looking at getting a single 3.5" unit for my new setup to put after the turbo dump pipe. It won't be as loud and raspy due to the turbo acting like a muffler, but it should free up some power on my setup.

How would ones like these go instead?

Based on hearing a few I'd say if you want them for a bit more power down the 1/4 go for it. If you want them for a quality sound forget it!! Yes they're loud but they sound farking horrible!! :spew::nutkick:

if its for drag racing then yes i'd get them, nice and quiet driving, then open them up for a floggin.,
but for general cruising I wouldnt use them, especially if they drone..

morpheous has them on his stroked VE SSV
they sounded good at the drags, but at idle, the had a fluttering sound to them (like a hole in the exhaust) , well to me anyway??
As he said, they are welded at the bend at the rear of the exhausts.
guess u really need to hear one in person, and depends what u want it for as to what u choose.
