Hi guys,

Hope this is the right forum to post to. I have just come into possession of a 2009 Holden Caprice. When no one is in the passenger seat the seat belt warning alarm is activating. When I press the button down on the belt buckle it stops and of course if I put the seat belt into the buckle it stops. Is there a way of fixing this easily or is it a difficult task? I can take it back to the dealer but if it is something simple I will tackle it, if not I will deal with that when it hits it's first service and simply buckle the belt when no one is in the seat.

Thanks in advance for any replies.
Cheers
Chris

have you got something sitting on the seat?

Can you see if anything is stuck in the seat belt?

Seems odd for it to do the opposite of what it should, it should only be a Normally Open contact.

I'd be getting the dealer to fix it if it was anything other than something stuck inside that's easy to retrieve.

What tells the car there's a person in the passenger seat? Is it a weight sensor? If so, I'd pick that's the problem, not a problem with the seatbelt itself.

CAn the statos be switched to police mode? that deactivates the seat belt chime.

Sensor is faulty and detects something on the seat.

Thanks for all the replies. The problem has gone away for now. I got my Son to jump in the passenger side for a ride and after that it came good. I imagine it has to do as you guys say the sensor for weight. I will be mentioning this at the first service so they can check on it. Again thank you all for your time and effort in replying.

Cheers
