Hey guys

Just another newbie here. I recently bought my First V8, it is a 2005 VZ SS-Z (LS1) and I love the car.

However I believe it could use a little more poke then it currently has, its quick but not put you back in your seat quick. So after some research it seems so far the best thing for me to do after a decent service (oil is black as tar, it currently has 162,000KM) is to do the exhaust, OTR and a Mafless.

I am looking for a good tuner that is not over priced, I was quoted $2040 for a full exhaust that consisted of Hurricane Tuned length headers 4-1 with 1 3/4 primary's, 200(what ever it is) high flow metallic cats and a manta twin 2.5 inch cat back with hot dogs up front and mufflers rear, as its an auto :(

Is that a good price for the system, not fitted?

I am hope to find a tuner that can do the same system roughly + an OTR and Mafless tune, on the Central Coast.

Any ideas on what else to do or if I should go in a different direction, would be appreciated.

Thanks

In my opinion mate i would drive the hour or so and go and see Girch at lsx tuning in sydney.
Worth the drive, once he touches your car you wont go anywhere else....

Unfortunately getting to Sydney is a little hard for me, due to my work schedule.

However I possibly could get the car down that way, depending on how long it takes for the parts to be fitted and tuned.

I assume being an Auto it will take longer then a manual with the shift points and what not, but if I cannot find one up here with decent prices I will contact LSX Tuning.

You will find that fitting the exhaust will probably take the longest, the tune and auto tune wont take as long as you think as the tuner has done millions of them so its just a matter of loading a tune that is almost there and just tweaking bits to suit your car.

My auto ve only took 2 hours of tuning and thats including me hoping in the car with him for a drive around to make sure I was happy with it all.

Im on the Central Coat and have never driven less than 1.5 hours to get the job down properly. Do you research, pick your fella and commute.

I will have to check up on the walkinshaw shop at Long Jetty, I looked up one at Tuggerah called Tuff Tune.

I am unsure of their pricing and quality of work. I think I will contact LSX tuning tomorrow and see what they offer at what prices.

I'm on the coast, and unfortunately also travel to Sydney for any work that I can't or too lazy too do myself.
Pipes from castle hill exhaust, and builds / tunes from Sonny for years now.
That's not to say nobody on the coast is any good, but I've had great results and service where I go and think experience counts for a lot.

That said, you can fit pipes and otr in the driveway, and get mail order tunes from a forum sponsor, if you can spin a couple of spanners.

I most likley could do the Work, however prefer a tune to be done on site.

That way I know its for my car in particular as obviously a few things would be different compared to the car the tune was setup for on a mail order.

PBE Dynotech are in Sandgate. Have not heard much about their work though.
