Doesn't matter how much prep work you do something always happens.
In between Glenmaggie and Briagalong yesterday in the middle of nowehere I blew the Magnafine Transmission Filter the top popped right off. Lucky for me a mechanic in Maffra cut a power steering line he had and flared it for me so i could bridge the gap, I lost 8 ltrs of Tranny fluid, there was smoke coming out of the fill pipe !!!!
Drove home okay seemed to change alright with no fault codes being thrown.
Question is I got most of the oil out of the engine bay at the local car wash with degreaser and high pressure hose, the rest I will have to get out this weekend when I pull the front of the car off, will any remaining tranny oil cause any damage if left for to long and is any degreaser better other brands ???
Cheers

Transmission fluid is pretty inert stuff & won't do any damage to plastics/paint/metalwork. It also washes off fairly easily & will leave everything looking nice & new. Any general degreaser will work fine (even the elcheapo Autobarn/Supercheap stuff) - just be careful around the electrics (especially ABS unit) when using a high pressure hose.

Oil left a long time (6 months to a year) will kill rubber, that said most rubber is neoprene anyway which has an oil resistance.
Nothing else should be worried, paint will be OK but clean all.

Thanks All,
Do you think I should have the pan dropped to look for damage ???

Dropping pan won't show much, fill it and drive it and see how it performs.
How old was the magnafine filter before it let go? would also like to know if anyone else has had this happen as I was thinking of fitting one..

Less than 500km old, the top is threaded and what has happened the side that was facing the air con condenser the top has split from the body along the thread, so even though the auto temp was only 79deg I am guessing the induced heat from the air con condenser caused the plastic to become supple, and pop.
This is the remote filter I was going to put on but didnt have the money at the time, going to order one shortly, cannot get them here have to order from the states.

Wouldn't lose to much sleep, it actually brought up an old Simmons wheel real well a few years back.
