Which of the 10 or so modules do you mean the software update for?

Last map upgrade if you have navigation option was last month.

In regards to the operating firmware for HiQ system that was May last year but by the sounds of it if you have just bought the car it will possibly have the latest software in already.
If it was built after April-May 2011 it will have the latest software already.

That's correct, but there was an update released feb 2012 but would only be installed if you had any problems/bugs. See below link

Nah mate, but I live in a smallish country town, only car of its kind here, and one of our work vehicles was there with a workmate when they returned to the shop in it...

Apparently the NAV is my problem? Anyone got any idea where the download for updates is???? I swear the service manager there/here is planetdavo.....

Why answer this question for you when you post in advance this sort of rubbish?
Next time you might learn to play nice if you want "free" answers.

Only way to get NAV updates is to pay your dealer around 300 bucks each time and they will still be more than 12 months old.

Some advice for VRIIClubby.
If you approach most businesses the way you started this thread, you will be easily dismissed as someone wasting people's time. Most staff are pretty busy, and tyre kickers are the last thing you need. Everyone starts on the back foot.
Also, understand that many things in life cost money. It "appears" that you had expectations that map updates come free when a car is under warranty, and when told it costs, you didn't like the answer given.
Be a lot more explanatory, understand that a business is called a business for a reason, and your perceptions of things will quite probably improve...:yup:

...each time and they will still be more than 12 months old.

That's the reality of all factory sat nav updates. The mapping company generic data has to be converted into car manufacturer usable data specific to each separate model. This takes time. Windscreen mounted universal sat navs have no integration requirements to worry about, and use data common to most of their products, hence the ability to release it a lot quicker and more cheaply.

There you go- get one of them instead.

regarding the software updates, can anyone drive their early VE into holden and get reflashed? Im guessing you only get the most recent update for your model, or is this normally done at servicing and a waste of time after that? The main reason I'm asking is the A6 software (including the downshift blip and shift quality etc.).

If the answer is yes, what sort of a charge would there be?

I think you will find you have to go to a tuner to get the A6 program modified.

You seriously are a tosser Davo! :yup:lol

If you go back to post 1 (which is where the topic STARTED ya douche) I was nicely / politely asking if anyone was aware of recent updates for the car, I was mainly concerned with the IQ system & Bluetooth streaming etc. 2 reasons for this (ill try and be quite clear so you understand down there)
1: When streaming music from Bluetooth you don't get the track details etc on your screen, not a biggie but enough to annoy me!
2: Opposition brand provided update for their system in the past 6 or so months that rectified this problem, I was hoping Holden had done the same...but alas, they have not, so be it.

I was then informed that SatNav had an update a month ago, not really that important for me as I live in the country, hard to get lost here! (you may, I'm not sure) but would be beneficial when the Mrs goes to the big smoke...now for your assumption on my reaction.
1: when I was purchasing said car, my local sales fella informed me that SatNav updates where FREE during Warranty, I thought that strange as I know lots of people that have paid large amounts of coin to update with other manufacturer's and I'm not naive enough to believe that anything is free.
2: When I spoke to the SERVICE MANAGER he advised me that the updating of SatNav is a customer's problem (his words mate) and that I would have to go to the Holden Website to download it! and I was just asking questions (along with why they charged $183/hr for a service) So If I came across rude/short to the incompetent tard that calls himself the Service Manager then so be it, not that I was, I never get heated or short when dealing with issues in person, im too well trained and experienced for that! lol
3: I jumped on the Holden website and could find NOTHING on SatNav updates, I called Holden Customer Service to enquire.
4: Holden Customer Service - a bloke advised me to update the software I would have to go to a website, register and then Download, thus I did, only to find out you can't get the Holden product there.
5: I called back and got a very nice lass whom advised its available through your local spare parts and you just need to buy a SD card and they will order it in and DL it for you, cost $350. I told nice lass what my service manager had told me, she then called the dealership and "educated" the tards on their product. - great service from the lass at Holden - letter has been sent Customer Service HQ for the exemplary service I received from her.

I then went back to the dealership to have the service reminder removed, and the oil life % reset - which the dealership knew nothing about, competent? I doubt it.
Whilst there Davo, the Dealer Principal came over the road to see me, he apologised profusely for the service I had received, the service manager was there at this time, he stated that after they got the call from Holden they went and investigated and found out the correct process as he "was not aware at all that we could get it through spare parts"

I was then given a cheque for $147.35 as a refund for the overcharge on my service, it was put down to a "system" error, lol,,, oldest excuse in the book, how many other people in my area have payed this price? most I would dare say.

Now, I know how to deal with a business, I'm very skilled in the customer service and service delivery game, both private and public enterprise, I would dare say I could teach you and your staff quite a few things. You mainly appear to think that you and your staff are always right and seem to forget the fact that without a customer you don't have a job, an all to common issue with today's retail sector, and hence why so many people purchase things online and shop around for the best deal, the more you shop the better informed you are, you seem to despise this and think you are some higher than godly entity that the customer must bow down to you. Arrogance will not get you much further than where you are sitting now!

The customer is ALWAYS right even when they are not, especially in a smallish country town where word of mouth has the power to bankrupt a business.

So Davo, I refute your "advice" and give you some, go do a refresher course on how to service your clients, the person you assume to be "tyre" kicking and wasting your valuable time could be anyone...and without that person you are unemployed (could be a good thing)
Just like I will never have my car at that dealership again, nor will any of my family (inlaws 2 commodores where due for their service last week, they went to a private mechanic aft er my experience, overcharged 1 customer and treated him poorly and as a result of that they have already lost 5 customers, that's a fair hit to your service department where i live...and there will be more to come! :yup: :yup: :yup: :yup: :yup: :yup: :yup: you'll learn one day mate!

I called my dealership last month asking for an update as I also have intermittent issues with reverse camera, IQ, song names not appearing on screen streamed from iPod. The service manager knew nothing about an update or any fix to such issues. And this is a major dealer here in Melbourne.

I was going to take my car there for a service and the update at the same time but after that response I'm not prepared to go anywhere near them.

BTW. Well said VR. IMHO you can't do enough for your customers. Everyone knows how good/bad word of mouth can be. And it's worked out very well for me. We don't even advertise.

The iq in my sv6 does bizarre things at times, will start playing music from iPod/bt stream whilst in an active call, defaults radio to AM when I've ended a call, hangs on call ended occasionally.

Other than that its livable.
