My Oil pressure Gauge hasnt worked for a while and have decided its time to fix it, it rises to the middle and just sits there.
I know the Oil Pressure switch is working as HP Tuners records a rise and fall with the rev's, am I correct in saying the the switch is okay ???
What I dont know is where the oil pressure sender is so I can test the ohms so I can try and work out if its the sender or the gauge.
Cheers

i think its near the oil filer.
The Sender is at the top/back of the engine behind the Intake Marc, your sender is working fine, there's no seperate "Switch".

I thought at the rear of the intake manifold was the oil pressure switch which then goes to the sender then gauge.
If I had a diagram I could work it out.

"Switch" is off/on for a light, our cars use a Sender which reads a range then that is sent to the Gauge via the PCM, yours is functioning correctly according to HP Tuners, the problem looks to be between the PCM and gauge on the binnicle.

Makes sense now.
What sought of voltage should i be seeing at the input to the gauge.
I am guessing it will be the gauge but want to be sure before I take out a second mortage to go and buy one !
LMAO it'll be a 0>5v signal, not sure which way around it'll be though..
Might be cheaper to buy a pair of aeroforce gauges?

What car. HSV ran a separate sensor for the gauge in some models

Dont know why this subject never came up when I did a search ??
Have looked at some links under similar threads at the bottom of this thread, will go and have a look.

VZ Cross8 Crewman
Check to see if there is a sensor at the oil filter. If there is that's the sensor for the gauge

I'm using a Cross8 Loom in my car there's no plug down there, not sure if the 5.7 is different though (mines a 6.0)

is the car an ls1?
there in an oil pressure sensor at the back of the intake which sends the signal to the ecu, this is what aeroforce gauges use to get an oil pressure reading.
for cars with the binnacle gauges there should be a seperate sender at the oil filter which is just for the oil pressure gauge.
should look something like this

Thanks Axe, it's an LS1 CrossTrac car so that should be at the front of the Sump and explains why HP Tuners reads the pressure fine but the gauge doesn't. :)

My understanding is that models with the VY HSV style gauges ran a separate front sender, whereas models with the VZ Monaro style gauges use the existing oil pressure switch at the rear of the block.

That's what I thought but wasn't 100% Davo, we'll hear when Choc sticks his head under the car I guess, I should have looked last time I was there!

Thread did, I know but do they all have provisuon for a guage even if they dont have a guage in dash?? I want to keep a closer eye on the oil pressure with an Autometer Sport Comp II....
