This damn car
Just arrived back to Perth from holiday, 5 days, I cannot unlock the car, key wont do it, and the button won't assuming the battery is rooted.
What's the go, do I need RACE to break into my car and put a new battery in it???

you should be able to unlock it with the key.
they are just very very hard. it feels like the key is going to break.
Other option is to jack the car up and get to the positive terminal on the starter motor with a battery pack or charger.

What you are doing with the key is exactly what needs to be done and yes it does feel as though the key will break, but they are pretty strong and you have to force it out of its deadlock position.
Jumper lead onto the + terminal on the starter, other one onto the block.

if its like the VX you need to lift the handle while you turn it , are you doing that?

Yeh got it all sorted, yeh you have to lift the handle, don't have to turn it hard, just turn it while lift the handle, took me a while to work it out.

didnt think lifting handle would do anything while turning the key. I've never had to do that with a dead battery or no battery in the car and deadlocked doors, just put the key in a turn. I've had my Vx for 11yrs.

Dunno what the go was.
Turning the key in either direction wasn't doing anything, as soon as I lifted the handle while turning the key the door opened, but still remained deadlocked with the locks still down. It only ever fully unlocked once the battery got some power

thats strange as bro.
Next question how would someone be able to put jumper type leads on the positive lead on the starter motor? I got pacey extractors and with the heat shield in place there would be no way I'd get a lead in there, let alone on the positive terminal with out earthing out the lead. guessing you would undo the bolts holding the shield, am i correct?

The trick is to realize that turning the key won't pop the button up as there is no physical connection from the lock to the button like older cars. Turn the key then lift the handle and the door will open.
