Hi all

I went use my AC for the first time this season late last week and only got warm\hot air,i did not hear the compressor kick in when turing the ac on.

I have read the fan belt coming off is an issue,

Does any one have a diagram of the 6 lt show which belt we are talking about?

facing the car i assume the compressor is on the left side down the bottom? if so i have a loose belt down there

Am i correct?

Left side down the bottom.

I have done the upgrade, new a/c braket, balancer, bolt, belt. not cheap.

mines upgraded to when did these start getting fitted at the factory after 2008?

if the belts not off issue maybe loss of gas from not using it since last summer, you should operate them at least once a week even if only a few minutes to lube up the pump seals...

If sitting in traffic or lights for a while I flick the air cond on for a minute for that reason

If the belt is loose it may be slipping a bit..I swapped my belt for the next size down from what recommended and doesn't slip or squeal at all (was dearer though figure that!)...I think I put on a 4pk1080 but would need to check?

Agreed that Aircon MUST be run regularly to keep seals from drying out though

what's this upgrade we're talking about? No issues on my 06 SSV, nice cold air. Well it does have a belt/pulley squeak at cold start but that sounds like it's the power steering pulley, defitely louder on the rhs of engine.

Later series 1's had an extra pulley added to the compressor bracket to take the whip out of the belt. Usually cars driven hard were the most affected.
This upgrade can be retro-fitted to earlier VE's.

Chexk your front clutch plate on the ac!! Mine broke off!! The auto electrician said it was because my car is cammed up and couldn't handle the abuse as even if the ac is on or off the ac is continually in operation.. And apparently they get flogged out internally.. I'm no expert just going off what I was told..
Just chexk the front clutch plate hasn't broke off.
