G'day all,
My car is now living in an underground park with no mains power accessible, so my normal battery chargers are not usable unless I tried using a computer UPS or something. Can anyone suggest a product or method to keep the battery charged?
Cheers.
try a solar charger , yes you have no sun , but they don't need much to tick them over .
Or else buy a decent battery jump starter pack and leave connected why you're away
How long does the car sit without being started?

It would depend on how often you use / how long you leave the car, but my old boat used to have "quick connect battery terminals". It took 30secs to unlock the tie down and separate the terminals. Then I would just take the battery to where I had power and plug it into the maintenance charger.

That's what I was going to suggest - best option from the sound of it

Also, remember to NEVER deadlock the car (2 clicks on VY/VZ remotes, not sure about VEs) if you're doing anything which may result in the battery being disconnected or drained. Otherwise the key won't open the doors and you'll be up the creek. Mate did it (didn't drive for a month or so) and came back to an inaccesible car as it was deadlocked and the battery went flat. Had to jack the thing up and jump start the thing from underneath...not fun at all.

That's a bit odd. Unless its different in the VX to VY/VZ you can still unlock the car with the key if its deadlocked, its just you have to turn the key so hard it feels like you will break it off.
Depending on how long between drives etc, you could do what I did and get a unit that auto disconnects the battery if the voltage drops below a threshold. Eg this one (http://www.batterybrain.co.uk/). I havent noticed it disconnect yet, but I am using the car more than usual lately. It also has the added benefit of having remotes so I can disconnect the battery at the touch of a button.
