Reading the manual today it says not to place a rear facing capsule where an airbag is in front of it, would the curtain airbag be classified as in front? I might have to get a narrower seat for the eldest if I have to put the capsule in the middle, just checking what you guys have done with multiple seats in the back. Cheers.

Basically the curtain air bag covers the window area and a tad below, I've got a rear facing seat for the new bub in the captiva which is set up the same.

Same same, have the little one facing rear in a CRV!
I had a rear facing capsule and then rear facing seat for my daughter in our sportwagon. As has been said above, the curtain generally covers the window area.

FYI, just to close this out in case it comes up in searches. Holden tells me it's only if the airbag could potentially inflate under the capsule and dislodge it. The curtain airbags can't do this, rear facing capsules on the sides is acceptable, but they'd prefer if if the middle location was used.

For both our boys when they were young enough to be rear-facing we always made sure they were in the middle.
Middle is preferable. But makes it more awkward when getting in and out of car. I had our daughter on the LHS as it was easier for my wife given her injuries.
