I never thought I'd ever say such a thing but Hyundai Genesis - I'd consider it...

https://www.hyundaiusa.com/vehicles/2013/genesis/?

Not sure if it's a true E-Class competitor but for $48,600 list you get:
5L V8 429HP 32 valve DOHC
RWD
8 Speed Auto
19"
528W 17 speaker 7.1 sound system
Bluetooth/iPod/DVD nav system
more airbags than a bouncy castle
Leather wrapped everything
24hr roadside assist
10yr powertrain/100K miles warranty
5yr/60K miles new car warranty

The Hyundai Genesis looks like something my retired dad would like to drive.

Genesis coupe looks better. 348hp rwd coupe with 8 speed auto or 6 speed manual and brembo brakes for $28k. Bring that to Australia.

Who knows, near the end of this decade the market here for V8 RWD sedans will be wide open for newcomers. This model Genesis is really a competitor to the Calais V V8 (prob more luxurious actually). Imagine one slightly de-contented and with the leaps and bounds Hyundai are making, then this could be what we are all buying in 2018...

Cheers, Matthew

Having sat in a C class and the Genesis over here. IF you took the badges off they are frighteningly close to being un-distinguishable.

I don't say this lightly having absolute respect for the C63, just saying...

Shits on the Calais-V for both comfort, safety and performance, these guys are going to smash all markets in the coming years.
This is from a guy that would rather neck himself than be seen in one a year ago!

Forget everything you ever knew about them, the same way you would Opel from years gone by...

i've always been a big fan of the 'vette.

Thats probably why i love our Lsx commodores. They have the heart of a 'vette.

(I would looove to see a Fiat with a ferrari/lambo engine for commodore prices though,
the equivalent of having a commo with a 'vette engine.)

The Genesis headlights have almost the same details as the new VF headlights. (The chrome bit)
