It's been commonly rumoured that the latest TV "Deal" is substantially less than the previous one.
I don't know by how much less it is, but will this mean that there will be less dollars for the teams? If it does, with ever rising costs, I would think there will be some impact on Team budgets, particularly those with smaller/skinnier budgets.
Cheers, Pickles.

Which should be offset by car of the future project. The new cars are supposed to be considerably cheaper to build and run, so overall it should effect teams too much.

The cars are the same so why not make the budgets the same?

The cars aren't the same. They've been designed to be "very affordable" to build, and can apparently be built in-house, bought complete, or bought as a kit that requires some assembly. I'm really surprised there wasn't more interest in the tv rights. V8 Supercars should have much higher viewer numbers than it did previously. It's just up to the owner of the rights to capitalise on the new formula and new interest

Ah. That makes sense
LOL yep a bit "Kit Car" I can see his point about setting a budget ceiling and letting the best driver win if they're going to have a more or less sillohette formula :)
how much budget would channel 7 contribute to the teams? I wouldn't have thought very much

Whilst the money up front is a lot less, part of the deal is based on ad revenue split, basically if the viewer numbers are good and 7 attracts lots of ad spend then V8 Supercars will get a cut. As for what the teams get out of this, not sure TBH, but if viewer numbers and demographics are good then the teams will be able to attract more sponsership.
Cheers, Matthew
