I predict a very big shake up this year (IE 888 won't dominate). I think some teams have been holding back development of the old chassis & will come out firing.

888 has Casey Stoner on board, at least for the Clipsal round from the small bit of the news I heard earlier.

I think 888 or SBR will be up there. I'd like to see the Kelly Bros do well but it's been that long since I've been up to speed with it all, I know 2/10ths of f all!

It will be same, any team with the good engineers will do good.

I reckon 888 will be at the front.....again.
They have the same "team" as last year, which was clearly the best.....I can't see any reason why their domination will not continue.
Cheers, Pickles.

Agreed, they have been, and still are the best "team". Hopefully COTF will mix up the results a bit, but the cream will still rise to the top I'm afraid..

Best team and driver brand has nothing to do with it.

Redbull racing will be the Dominating force

Most definitely will be a follow on from last year with the top teams ie Redbull etc
Then I think you will see some others appear.
Id bet some will hold back at first if they realise that they can keep up with the best :)
until they all show the cards.

Time will tell then...
holding back is not the same as hanging back :hide:

Time will tell then...
holding back is not the same as hanging back :hide:In a category where the cars and drivers are so close that they often have the first 20 cars covered by 1 sec in qualifying, believe me, everyone is giving their all...and then some.

888 for the win, just due to the fact that they are usually ahead in chassis design and manufacture compared to the others, and have bloody great drivers

HRT will do the same as they did this year .... very little

Watch FPR. My sources say the gearbox reliability issues will be the Achilles heal for a lot of teams. FPR isn't one of them

aren't the transaxles a control item? how would FPR have a reliability advantage?

Yes they are a control item. Not sure how they've done it

From some inside news the Nissan may struggle as they are short 30hp and can't get anymore with the current valve size. No option to fit bigger valves as there is not enough room in the heads.

I am sure the Red Bull cars look great in person but they look very bland on TV. It would have been better if the car was blue instead of black.

They probably were not allowed to use blue as the main colour because it is a Ford colour. They will have to find a way to get more red in there for next year.

BOC/Lockwood team look very professional this year.

A good year for BJR would make me very happy - The Jones boys have put a lot of effort into the team over the year, and haven't got a lot to show for it.

I predict Nissan and Mercedes hold off until Bathurst them give 100 per cent effort to win by 3 laps. bogans will all cry foul forcing Jim Richards out of retirement to remind them they are still arseholes . next year the governing body will intervene by slapping a 600kg weight penalty and imposing a 3000 rpm rev limiter on the non australian (un australian?) teams

They will find the power when they get the right camshaft.....and they will......with more testing......trouble is.....it all takes time......and $s.

They have the power ok, just not around 7500rpm, hence one of their requests to up the limit temporarily whilst they do more homework.

The knockers always love to dump on our "archaic" pushrod V8s, but they are actually a very efficient engine, and the newcomers may have to dig deep to even reach the same levels, despite their perceived advantage of 4V dohc....

I'm loving the sound of the Merc and Nissan, gives another dimension to the Ford/Chev Sound

And lets face it we're not talking about an application that needs an engine to have good torque just above idle, rev to 10,000rpm or be super fuel effienct. So long as it works in the desired rev range, that's all it needs to do.

I notice that the number of allowable test days has been cut from 10 to 6. I would say that this is a direct result of the decreased $s available to Teams via the decreased TV $s
Cheers, Pickles.

it's been a good mix of winners so far this year, BJR are looking strong
