Hi folks, just throwing something out there and wondering what peeps thoughts are:

Vehicle:
VYII SS Wagon (309rwkw LS1 + A4)

Mods so far:
VX HSV Brakes (330/315)
Koni Adjustables (all round)
Whiteline swaybars front and rear
Diff rebuilt with 3.45 gears
HTV1900
PAC springs
In tank Walbro pump
60lb injectors
A4 rebuilt (usual upgrades)
Tranny Cooler
Nolathane bushes (rear end)
SS Pacemaker Tri-y's + full 2.5" SS exhaust
Michelin PS3's all round
Dual Aeroforce guages (in HSV pod) with Boost and AFR sensors added.

Have just dropped the car off @ Chevs for the following:
Blower cam + rods
2800 HiStall
B&M Deep pan for A4
Replace rear Nolathane bushes with OEM (it's amazing how much noise these transmit....)
Replace rear drive shafts with new OEM (originals are shagged and I don't want to go G-force as I like the 'fuse' idea....)
OEM Power Steering pump (current leaks a tad on my belts and cold starts sound like a cat is under the bonnet - hate it!!)

I now find myself with a 'little' left over (about 2k) and have my eye on an aftermarket Sunroof install (Holandia 700 @ prestige in Melbourne).

So what are peoples thoughts, I obviously don't have enough left to do any more major power mods (have already ruled out bigger brakes, as I don't do track time and have no plans) but what 'should' I throw this left over at (yes I have been saving very hard over the last 12 months.....). I have obviously spent a bit of coin over the last couple of years on the above mods, and I have no intention of selling my ride (as I just looooooooove my wagon) but I have spent nothing on the exterior/interior except the gauges (I also don't want bigger rims either... trying to keep it a bit of a sleeper); but I once owned a VT GTS with a Holandia Sun roof and like the idea of owning one again (let there be "light" and air and bees and .......)

Am I mad wanting to install the Sun roof (I have spoken to insurer and no probs with install) or should I spend this on a Trutrac diff rebuild or something else; As above, I don't race (might do a qtr run one day but,).......

As always, appreciate the feedback (and feel free to post your 'real' thoughts, negative or positive, I need a balance.....)

Thanks to all,

IJ.

Put the money into a house or invest. Start getting a return on the money.
If it has to be a mod, do the diff

Yes, very good advice, but that side of my life is sorted, hence the reason I can afford to chuck cash at my car.......... this is my 'mid life' crisis .... (better this than a 20 year old blonde me thinks..... I get to ride this one every day AND without guilt.... :hide:)

If you're LSD works well do the sunroof, if it's stuffed do the trutrac! For the 2k you've got to spend, a bit more you could do both :p

Hmmmm, another good suggestion, I have had the A4 built about 20,000km ago - Mods were:

- 3/4 Drum Capsule, Mod Valve Body & Seperator Plate, Beast Drive Shell, Mod 3/4 Accumulator & Boost Valve, Convertor

But 20,000km's is a long way with nearly 700nm of torque; With the addition of a cam, I wonder how much longer it will hold up...... what other additions to the tranny would be worth considering if and when a rebuild is required and what sort of $$$ do you rek'n (from memory the above rebuild was around $2,300 or there abouts...)

Keep e'm coming boys,

Cheers,

Yep, that is why I was keen on the Sun Roof, but, can't help thinking I can use the $$$ better somewhere else.......... at the moment I have a tentative booking for Mon 18th, so I have a week to change my mind .....

Looking at your mods and the $ your spending. I think now, just enjoying with daily WOT usage...

Sounds like you have spend money where it needs and even being over cautious just in case, which i understand with the power.

The running gear can take a bit of abuse and hiding.......just service them often and keep off the rev limiter :) :)

Now buy the sunroof .....................:)

Thank me later!!!

Whilst a sunroof is a nice addition, I have one in a wm Caprice, I don't like the look when fitted to wagons.
The rake of the roof is less than a sedan. The result is that from front on, you can see the sunroof.
Personally, I don't like the look of that as is stands out like dogs balls (no offence Dale).

Let the 2k burn your pocket and enjoy what is already a great package.

Sorry to the OP but I would have to agree,
IMHO they never seem to look quite right on a wagon.;)

I would have to agree with this, I think with the power your great package is putting out
sadly sooner or later you should be expecting a stronger diff AND transmission.
BTW. love your ride :6bow:

if you are cashed up then ditch the old jobby and buy a new VF, possibly last of the great rear drivers, then start the mod process as you have done for your current car....

Haha, I WAS cashed up, but no longer, as a result it will be at least another 1 - 2 years before I can consider any more major work (unless something goes bang....) - I'm sooooo not interested in the latest offerings from Holden (especially the wagons), no offense to anyone who has one (that squashed arse and the lack of storage space .....); I did have the option before starting on this mod path to get rid of my wagon and move up to a VE (but 60k+ for the same as what I had and the loss of valuable storage space, made me decide to stick with my SS and head to where I am) - Plus my wagon is 1 of 90 or something like that (Silver, Auto, series II) and could be considered quite rare. So no VF for me (last of e'm or not - which personally I doubt.....)
