Great news. Be interesting if Holden jumps on board with this. Looks like its going to be a cracker

Sounds fantastic. Wonder if it will make it into a Holden?

the 8 speed auto behind it sounds good too.

Sounds like a great engine, but if I were a betting man I'd say no for Australia. Looks quite extensively different to the common or garden HFV6, and retooling Port Melbourne for a tiny FPV F6-competitor segment would make no sense.

History has also shown that interest is low in 6 cylinder sports Holdens (VP SS V6, VT SS s/c V6, HSV XU6, Monaro CV6 - though admittedly none of these were anything like this new TT V6). Holden focusing on V8 variants makes more sense here.

The 8 speed auto on the other hand would make a lot of sense.

Maybe Holden fit such an engine into the Holden range and leave the V8 for HSV only. Creates a unique point of difference for HSV and Holden.

I'd bet vital internal organs that would never happen with Holden... (Ford might have been stupid enough to try it, Holden aren't that dumb).

Sadly I don't see a TTV6 for us, in the VF Commodore. The Gen IV/V V8s would be miles cheaper engines for Holden then the TT and the V8s cover the market anyway.

We will more likely see the TTV6 when the Commodore becomes whatever it becomes after the VF. The TTV6 will also be fitted to the front wheel drive Epsilon II plaform Cadillac XTS. The Epsilon platform is shared with the Chevy Malibu (SWB) and Chevy Impala (LWB).

Cheers, Matthew

While I don't necessarily disagree with you, in whatever incarnation the Commodore takes post VF the lineup could include the TTV6 in Calais and TTSV6 model. HSV lineup then includes an 'entry' level V8 along the lines of the SS, then Clubbsport, GTS, Senator, etc.

Whilst always a V8 fan, I think that the future will be in smaller capacity, boosted engines. The V8 will be for niche markets, therefore better in HSV's lineup. That all leads to a different issue though that HSV does nothing to shift the perception that is only a one trick pony producing only V8 Commodre variants.

The problem I see is this. If Holden do use the TTV6 post VF it will probably be because the Commodore has gone front wheel drive on the Epsilon platform. In which case there will be probably no V8, there is no V8 currently fitted to the Epsilon II platform. If Holden stay RWD post VF, ie go to the Alpha or perhaps the new Omega platform, then I think they will stick with the V8 as the performance option, its cheaper and has market support. Despite all of Holden's problems the one area they are still doing very well is selling V8s, and subject to having a car on a suitable platform, I can't see Holden jeopardising that.

Something to bear in mind. I suspect for Ford, the locally made Turbo 6 is a cheaper engine for them than the V8, even the atmo V8 used in the Mustang. Hence the use of the T6 in the non-FPV range. For Holden I think it is the opposite, the Gen IV/V V8s would be much cheaper engines than a quad cam, 24V, twin turbo V6 hence no TTV6 for us.

Cheers, Matthew

Always going to come down to price here.... FFS they took the glovebox light out of late VZ's to save a $....

TTV6 while "nice" is going to cost a LOT more then the existing V8.

Here's a brief TTAC story on the TTV6. They are saying that it WON'T be going into the baby Cadillac ATS-V?????? Begs the question, what is going into the ATS-V? Will it be the LT1 perhaps?

Interesting intercooler/throttlebody/manifold design. Check it out in the video.

Hmm first thing would be to run a conventional front mount air to air intercooler
