To have the pictures show up you need to use the little picture icon to insert, or alternatively you need to paste this text before/after the image link..

Love the specs of the car. And it looks nice, but the photos are bloody awful.

Your photo's don't work because you haven't copied the link correctly.
Your links have '...' in them which indicates that part of the URL has been truncated.

You need to make sure you copy the full URL's and that there are no '...' in them.

lol thanks, when i first bought the car i was legally allowed to drive it because i got my 'P's before the new restrictions came in.. therefore all the new laws didnt apply to me. This was quite a while ago now, those photos were taken not long after i bought it and the nothing has changed on the outside

Thought i would jazz up the boring cream/grey upper section of my interior with some black and suede and also the seat backs...
(sorry for the bad photos, my photography skills arent up with my building ones lol, and it looks much better in person, the black is very similar between the paint and materials)
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/1_zps2a0368b6.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/1_zps2a0368b6.jpg.html)
started by removing the leather? from seat backs
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/4_zps7eac6c77.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/4_zps7eac6c77.jpg.html)
then removed roof lining material and foam
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/5_zpsb5987278.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/5_zpsb5987278.jpg.html)
then with some good hi temp spray adhesive i layed black butter suede over the a pillars across the top and down the c pillars and across the rear section. I tried to do the b pillars as well but the suede wasnt pliable enough..
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/20130323_101903_zps8663ccfa.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/20130323_101903_zps8663ccfa.jpg.html)

i also removed the center light fixture, and wired in the new style one with the sunglasses holder, and vinyl died it along with the handles, sun visors and b pillars
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/20130324_163745_zpsb7a5e2d7.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/20130324_163745_zpsb7a5e2d7.jpg.html)
i then attempted to re-trim the roof lining with the suede so i first glued down some foam sheeting because the suede wasn't backed with any, this went fine... then tried to apply the suede and was just to difficult, ended up with a few pinched points and just not up to my liking so tore it all off again and the foam and re did it with some black automotive roof lining the newer diamond stuff. Was very easy to apply as it stretches and conforms easy..
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/20130326_171744_zps054a5eff.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/20130326_171744_zps054a5eff.jpg.html)

all in all took a long time and was pretty painful but happy with the end result.

Good work, not sure if you want to hear this or not but the later model HSVs came out with black interior (Think the late model VZ SS as well?), i managed to pickup a complete interior conversion for about $250 (Took a couple of months of looking though) for my VX. that said, yours does look good...

Something I've been meaning to do to mine.
Looks good, not sure if its just the photo/lighting but I'm not too keen on the look of the seat backs. Are they the same color as the pocket?

cheers! just from spotlight in Melbourne, i searched everywhere for 'automotive grade' black suede and couldn't find ANY. tried all the big automotive suppliers and nothing.. i probably should have tried the custom trim guys they could have at least put me in the right direction. But yeah its black butter suede, i actually bought the last of it and even had them ring two other stores to get some more but they dont make it anymore apparently? And the roof lining is just the usual automotive velour roof lining, got it from Nolan UDA, pretty cheap. if you want any tips just pm me

thanks, yeah the photos dont do it any justice, the suede is darker than it seems and blends with the leather quite well. but no, the map pocket is leather same as the seats, i only covered the plastic back trim bit.

Well if it makes you feel better, it took a good couple of months plus a number of google notification searches before i found a complete (good condition) conversion at a decent price. Luckily (Or not) my car has been off the road for 2 years now, so i wasnt exactly in a rush :).
As i said though, good result and looks a million times better.
It does beg the question though, assuming it costs the same why wasnt it black right from day one?

Hi

Hi mate,
Thanks. I used duplicolour flat black vinyl dye, in a spray can. BE CAREFUL thow when your coming to the end of the can it will start to spray thick blotchy spots.. The first time I did it I actually ended up with tiny darker spots all over the b pillars and couldn't get rid of them.. So i bought a fresh can and swapped the trims with my daily (VT) and painted them.
Normal process just clean the trims really well with wax and grease remover and do it in a well ventilated area cause the fumes are quite strong.

ahhh good question!! i have used stuff from spotlight and other 'lighter grade' spray adhesive before and trust me dont waste your time... the second your car gets hot it the summer it will fail. You need to use the highest temp stuff you can find. I did a lot or research on this because iv had previous efforts fail. Iv read a lot of people using 3M Hi tack 76 with mixed results. I used this stuff called BOND-IT (Hard surfaces) it its rated to over 104 degress which was the highest i could find in a spray can. I also emailed the company for some re assurance and they told me thats what its desgined for. Got it from homeupholsterer . com . au

Thanks!! your idea with the vapor lines has got me all motivated/excited to use hard line now! :woot: so iv put mine on hold and am re doing my fuel system in some 3/8 aluminum hard line. Surge tank, twin 44s all plumbed up nicely in the boot. Build pics should be up in a couple of weeks... speaking of, got any tips for straighting out hard line? I have a bender for the bends but the straighting tools are to expensive to buy for such little use??

I've got a couple of ways.
1) Drill an appropriate size hole through a block of wood, and pull the hardline through. This does a pretty good job.
2) Clamp one end of the line hard in a vice, bend it 90 degrees at the vice end, then hold it with vice-grips at the other end and belt the vice grip with a hammer while pulling hard on the line.
Depends what material the hardline is really. If its stainless you're going to have a bad day. Alloy likes to conform though.
Make sure if you cut the line to size before-hand that you leave enough extra for clamping during straightening.

Hey mate,
Sorry can you just re-explain what your trying to do? (Sorry, cant seem to see what your doing).
If your running new fuel lines dont stuff around doing 3/8", go 1/2". (The cost and effort difference is minimal, but 1/2" will support almost any fuel system/engine build however 3/8" is somewhat limited.
I am also just in the process of changing my lines over to 1/2" aluminum. By far the biggest trick i found was to fill the lines with sand blasting sand (Forgot what its called), as this stops the lines from kinking when bending. I did mine entirely by hand (Just using a handle from trolley jack to get a nice bend radius) and found it was actually pretty easy and gave a fantastic result. Can probably post some pics tonight if your inetrested. Without the sand, the lines kink almost instantly (even with the right tool). Also easy at the end to blow the sand out with an air compressor.
However as i said it needs to be sand blasting sand (Garnet?) as regular sand doesnt work. (Where abouts are you? Im happy to give you some if your local). Id say 1/2" line holds about 1.5 litres of sand per line (so you'll need 3L in total (Not sure what that is in weight... say 3-5kg?).
I used russell fittings to convert the hardline to 8an male fittings. Worked really well, just be aware they the ferrets are one use only, so order a few spares when/if you order the fittings in case you need to re-terminate the ends.
If you need more info just ask (part numbers etc).
Cheers, Errol.

Hi Errol,
Im beefing up my fuel system to support future work and was just looking for tips on using hardline... Im using aluminium 3/8 line only in the boot, for the tank return, return from the engine and feed to the surge. Ill also be using the normal feed as the return and have plumbed the outside (underneath the car) of the bulkheads to tank and return with various push on fittings and hose. The feed from the surge has twin pumps into a -8an y fitting then into a bulkhead threw the base of the boot, into a -8 compression fitting then braided line all the way to the front. So basically the same as you 1/2" hardline.
I have read about using the sand and watched clips on you tube also, however i tried bending a small section the other day and it bent perfectly but i am using a bending tool.. i will keep this in mind tho when i come to bending the rest of the line and if i have any trouble ill PM you.
Thanks
i have put a lot of planning and thought into it so i hope it turns out good!! haha ill post pics of the everything when finished.

Ok, think i understand...
Couple of questions (just to be clear)...
Are you running braided line from the boot to the front of the car? (Legally, you need to run hardline from the engine bay to the rear of the car. Physically you can just run braid, but its an ADR fail and insurance wont cover you if the car catches fire).
Secondly, are you running rubber braided hose or teflon braided lines? If you use normal rubber braided you WILL always have a fuel smell around the car. Its ideal to run teflon lined braided hose...).
Third, from everything ive read/been told, you want to try and match the return line to the feed line. the problem you can have is if your pumping a lot of fuel through a 1/2" feed line and bleeding most of it (Say during idle) back to the tank using a 3/8" line, the return line can cause a back pressure and cause your fuel rail pressure to exceed its set rate and the car run rich.
I found the bending tool has a limited bend radius, which is an issue if your running hardline from front to back. See how you go, just keep the sand trick up your sleeve as it worked exceptionally well for me.
Finally, which brand fittings are you using/have you purchased them yet? i have used cheaper push on fittings in the past and teh quality always left a lot to be desired. Im not sure id trust them for a fuel system...
I ended up doing all my lines (Fuel, gearbox oil cooler, diff oil cooler, engine oil cooler and power steering oil cooler) using BAT Inc fittings/hose. The price is extremely competitive and the quality is brilliant (I personally think they are better than EARLS/RUSSELL). Apparently they are rebranded aeromotive/aeroquip fittings (Just at a much cheaper price).
Cheers, Errol.

Yes, from the boot up to the just below the header on the passenger side where it will enter a Y piece then feed into the rear of the two rails.. Im not concerned about it being roadworthy, ADR approved, or about insurance, im sure there plenty of other items on/in the car that void these also..
No, the line running to the front will be teflon braided hose. The lines at the back will be simple push on rubber hose.
This is good point, never thought of that!! i will defiantly look into it. Couldnt this just be rectified in the tuning?
yes i have got almost everything, just the line to front and a couple others. I use a mix of speedflow, aeroflow and proflow. I have used the push on series hose and fittings for my last 2 fuel systems without a single problem. Although they dont perform or look as good, I almost prefer it to the compression style, and easier to use. And i can assure you unless your running crazy pressure which will probably burst the line anyway they will NEVER come off. Ill look into the BAC inc fittings.. thanks
Not sure what it is theres just something i love about using aluminum fittings!! wish i could do the rest of my car :bawl: but to expensive

Update...
In keeping with plans to turbo my stroker next year, thought i would upgrade my fuel system so its ready to go. Originally it was under the car with a VCM surge and single bosch 044, i could have just added another pump but got motivated by a mates boot install so decided to put together an entire new setup. Plan was to keep the rear wheel and try not modify/move to much stuff to allow for ease of removal if i get defected..
Design was pretty basic, standard intank pump feeds surge, then 2 044s, into a Y piece, then 1/2" hardline to the front, into another Y piece, then into the rear of both rails, out the front of the rails and into the reg and returned via the OEM fuel line.
After speaking with some helpful forum members i thought i would try the small return and just see how i go..
I mounted 2 relays in sealed boxs for the pumps
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00899_zpsd8767727.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00899_zpsd8767727.jpg.html)
This was the best spot i could find to put the bulkheads threw. 3 x -6, and 1 -8 for the feed.
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00895_zpsbff1218d.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00895_zpsbff1218d.jpg.html)
I got some flat aluminum bar to raise the surge tank and pump brackets up because the floor wasnt all flat as you can see. They are different thicknesses because the pump bracket didn't sit level with the bottom of the surge.
Mounted them to the base by using riv-nuts in the floor then counter sunk bolts threw the flat bar to hold them. Stainless bolts then go threw the surge and pump bracket, threw the flat bar and fasten to the base with more riv nuts. The rubber grommet is for the wiring.
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00900_zps45d51303.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00900_zps45d51303.jpg.html)

This is a dummy fit, i then used coat hanger wire to make templates for the hardline. Originally i had planned to run 2 check valves but didnt take into account they wouldnt fit directly onto the end of the pumps, this caused dramas making the lines between the Y peice and pumps. So they were scraped and went to a single inline check valve under the car. Im aware of problems if one fails ect. but going to take that chance.

Had about 6 leaks when i first primed the system only due to it being the first time iv used hard line and was unsure of how tight to do up fittings. Pretty happy with the end job. Started getting a little frustrated for a while, specially when id finished and all the leaks started! All good now. Seemed to bend find without the sand but will give it a go next time. Havnt touched the reg since my tuner set it. It does seem a little rich on idle, smells fuely and the smalled return could cause this so think im going to chuck it back on the dyno just to double check everything. And as for noise, there really not that bad. The car in not exactly quiet but there not loud enough to bother you, if you were in the back it would be a different story..
Also all hose and fittings are E85 compatable!! :D
cheers

Little update..
Iv moved the PCM inside the cabin to make way for the turbo, next will be getting rid of the overflow bottle. Unsure if I want to put a VZ radiator or just get the little ASE tank that’s sits on the drivers side yet, but leaning towards the tank.
Also moved the battery to the boot and took a few pics…
Pretty easy job. I used 50mm2 welding cable from BOC gas. Was about $17 a meter and is great stuff!!! Very flexible, double insulated, and has a good current rating (exceeding what I needed). Also got some gold plated terminals, a power post, eye terminals, fuses BIG and small all from Jaycar.
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00949_zps17ff861d.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00949_zps17ff861d.jpg.html)
Made a little aluminium bracket up to hold the power post. Simply cut the ends off the existing power leads and soldered new M8 eye terminals on to suit. Also made a new earth cable that runs from the mount to the engine. I covered this and the first about 2 meters of the power cable to the battery in Speedflow fire sleeve to try and keep the heat away.
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00955_zps3b070d8a.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00955_zps3b070d8a.jpg.html)
Ran the cable under the car to the boot on the right, drilled holes and used rubber grommets on all wires. Earth strap just goes to rear bolts where towbar would bolt to. (This will be handy if I ever get really keen on racing, putting in a master kill switch will be easy). Hole on the right is for battery box vent.
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00963_zps97c57fcd.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00963_zps97c57fcd.jpg.html)
Battery box is Jaz performance. Used this instead of the Moroso one because it was slightly smaller. 250amp Mega fuse bolted to the side in case of a smash.
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00964_zps807f1874.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00964_zps807f1874.jpg.html)
Long threaded rods come from the floor threw the box the top of the battery and then it all bolts down together.
http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u613/ls1gino/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00976_zpsb13552a9.jpg (http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/ls1gino/media/Facebook/My%20SS/DSC00976_zpsb13552a9.jpg.html)
Inserted the vent tube and put the lid on which totally seals the box. When installing I allowed just enough room to cut the carpet around it still allowing me access to the spare tyre as well.
And vewelllaa..

I was so keen on buying your setup but iv tried it with my rims and there not even close to fitting :( A mate of mine has the VE redline with the brembos on the front and we tried fitting my rims to it with no hope! Would need a spacer of like 10mm or more so that's a no go unfortunately. Next option is the Harrops, only thing stopping me (apart from the cost) is im really keen to start drag racing the car and will be investing in some 15" Pro stars at some point which definitely wont fit over the brakes... so im thinking might just leave them. Would be a pain to swap brakes every time i wanted to go racing..

Nicely done mate great attention to detail. I made up a header tank which sits in the same spot as the factory one but is half the size and will suit a single or twin turbo set up. Ill try put a photo of it up

Went to heathcote today for the drag day. Had a ball!! Safe to say im hooked! Thanks to Andy for organizing.
First time out racing went a few 11.80's and ran a best of 11.67 at 120mph with a 1.67 60ft. Pretty happy with the results but thinking theres a low 11 in it with the MPH just need some more practice.

There Speedhut revolution gauges. From the states. Really nice peice of gear. You can customize them exactly how you want, colour, style, font, even put logos on the face. Both electrical, was a little hesitant on running an oil line into the car.

cheers! haha yep time to get serious! i used gm adapters on the fuel tank pump/sender which go to push on -6 hose then to a -6an bulkhead fitting, through the floor of the boot then 3/8 hardline to the surge, into the pumps 3/8 hardline to the Y then 1/2 hardline to the front into another Y then 2 -6 hose feed each rail, into the reg then out back down the factory feed. theres a few pics of how i did a couple pages back.

Hey guys.... update time!!!! :yahoo:
Well after a very tough last 6 months, im finally back on my build... have bought some new bits and pieces and will be fitting them over the next month or so. Bought my own house and living alone so its not easy to find time or money now days haha
Have been speaking with my tuner and a good friend who is helping and we have decided to leave the motor exactly the way it is (big dirty NA cam, high comp etc) and see how it goes. Only change will be to E85 fuel.
I have also swapped the 044s for a single magnafuel protuner 650 which is much nicer and quieter.
I bought sirnemisis old turbo setup... s400 sx3 75mm, 44mm tial gate 4 inch dump (i think)

Bought a powerglide off a forum member (built by race glides, hugo i think) 3800 slingshot convertor built for boost, along with custom made 2 piece heavy duty tailshaft, 1350 unis etc. Will be running a b&m pro ratchet shifter with a TCI transbrake.

Yeah your going to need some serious stopping power if you want to be able to drive it fast anywhere with bends! Stock brakes are not even close to good enough i'm always surprised to see the money and time people put into power while ignoring the brakes!
[QUOTE='[TWIGGA];2069856']Tough car with a great combo! How's the torque?
Bet your keen to upgrade the brakes now!
Great build buddy
cheers!!
yeah torque is awesome, cant remember exact numbers.. like always getting over it already thow haha
Yes brakes will defiantly be on the cards with the next lot of mods, will probably just get a set of HSV ones, unless i find a banger deal on some wilwoods or something

Thanks mate!
Brakes have been on the cards for a long time... i dont plan to corner the car fast lol its ment to be fast in a straight and thats it haha
The only reason i havent upgraded the brakes yet is because nothing will fit under my prostars and i cbf swapping the brakes every time i want to go racing.
After its tuned and making some good numbers with the glide etc. it will probably be the next on the list.

Little update..
Have basically finished fitting everything.. Had my parts powder coated mat black... came out awesome!! Turbo setup is on, exhaust is made and fitted, just running a screamer pipe for the moment, (sounds porn), dump pipes been wrapped, spark plugs lead covers on, eboost street fitted (gate opens on 1 psi atm)
Been driving it around a little just to get a feel, make sure theres no problems. Turbo seems to blow a little smoke.. seems to be coming directly from the turbo itself not out the exhaust that ive noticed anyway, drain in a -10 and seems to be clear so unsure of whats causing it. Motor also has twin -10 breathers to tank so should be breathing enough??
Have run out of money again hahaha so will be on hold for a little.
Have the glide and diff setup ready to go in, just need some ID2000's and swap the fuel out for E85 and we should be good to go.
Will get some engine bay pics later.

Im running the factory PCV from the rear of both rocker covers, then i removed the front fitting on the drivers side and put a 3/8 to -10 fitting then hose to a catch can with a breather ... also tapped another hole on the passenger side cover with the same setup to the tank

Havent made an update in a while so heres where im up to...
Fitted the glide, new diff setup, new 2000cc injectors, 2 bar map sensor, changed the fuel to E85 and got everything running.
Drove the car around for a little while (always off boost, and before the fuel and injector swap) just to check for any problems. Found a few leaking gaskets etc. so fixed them then put it on dyno.
Did a few pulls and it starting bringing up crank sensor faults. Tried a relearn or whatever it is.. no help, tried a new sensor, no help, checked all earths and wiring.. all good.
Then checked the end play and theres about 20 thou which we think is whats throwing the sensor.
We also removed the sensor and had a look at the reluctor wheel and it seems to have a small purple section as if its over heated or something?? Either way motor is coming out soon to inspect.
Plus the converter is way to loose so will get that tightened while its out.
Little disappointed but thats the game i guess.
Will try get some photos of the reluctor and see whats wrong and whats caused it when its apart.
Cheers,
Gino

Quick update for anyone interested..
Pulled the motor out and pulled it down. Found the thrust bearing completely rooted (guess it did its job) and also found the reluctor wheel had come apart from its rivets, which was probably causing the crank sensor to drop in and out.
Luckily the crankshaft survived and looks in good condition so its off to get cleaned up and get a new reluctor wheel put on and back in the motor. Everything else looked fine so a simple bearing kit for the bottom end and it should be good as gold.
We are putting the problem down to when i drilled the sump for the turbo oil return it must have left some metal in the sump which has caused the problem for the bearings..
Will be getting the convertor tightened and the tailshaft re balanced while its apart also. Hopefully will be back on the dyno in a month.
Cheers,
Gino
Check the end play on the converter when you reassemble it Gino.

Any updates?
YES!... update..
Got everything back for the motor and re assembled the bottom end myself. Put the motor back in along with the modified convertor and rebalanced tailshaft. It starts but is missing badly. Check over everything found 5 injectors not pulsing! :( assuming cause it had just been sitting around with E85. Remove them all take them to get cleaned and checked, 7 good 1 faulty so i had to buy 1 new one. Put it back together again now im getting temp sensor faults... after lots of diagnosis found the plug itself on the temp sensor was faulty! $5 from the local wreckers and fixed that. Finally get to drive it only on a base tune and off boost to still have a huge driveline vibe fml! Found 2 bent driveshafts (probably a lazy towey someone along the line) so replaced both. Drive, vibe still there... get tailshaft rebuilt with new centre bearing and balanced again.. refit.. still there but better and bearable. PS any ideas on this?!? have tried almost everything with alignment etc. and 95% sure its from the tailshaft?!
Went on the dyno Tuesday and finally made some numbers!! Made 453.6RWKW at 9.5psi!! Its a fairly conservative tune as well cause we not real confident with the alloy block, especially being a stroker already etc.
Needless to say its pretty fun!! Will turn them at 80 and some but still yet to give it a good thrash. Will probably change the screamer pipe at some point, sounds tuff... but its just ridiculously loud haha

Cheers guys!! stoked!! goes hard!
yeah thats what it feels like, but ive had it balanced twice now from a pretty reputable shop and they assured me it was spot on..
I dont really want to take it back and look like a peanut haha. Maybe ill try another shop just for the sake of it.
Anything under 80ks drive smooth as butter, them from 80 to 100 gets bad then seems to slowly to get less the faster i go. Havent had it that fast but almost completely goes above 140 (closed road testing of course..) its a heavy duty 2 piece shaft with strange trans yoke, 1450 unis, big slip joint in the centre on the rear section and a drive shaft shop billet diff yoke with hardy spicer mating flange.
Ive also tried having the trans at several angles about 40mm each way with no improvement so can rule out alignment.
Any other ideas?? maybe diff?
cheers,
Gino
Might need to check the Pinion angle with the Output shaft angle Gino..

This is what i originally thought but after shimming the glide up and down and changing the angle quite a lot surely i would have got it close to the same angle the diff is at? It seemed to make no difference at all really so im thinking its not that.

The diff will be the next thing i look at but thats in the same boat... only just been built with all the good stuff and by a reputable guy as well! :up2sum:
