Is anyone using an aftermarket water pump on their VE SS? Which one and is it better than OEM?

I decided to get an electric pump installed. Mine is the original and the car has done 160,000kms. Electric pump will give me a few extra horses, won't cavitate under high revs, provide consistent flow and with an over-ride switch, will let me run the pump if i have to switch the motor off. Not sure of the details yet - brand, spec, price. Will know later in the week.
What happens when the pump fails?
I ran a DC EWP in Series with a stock pump on another car that was prone to low flow at idle and cavitation about 7000, worked perfectly but not sure I'd trust it as the only pump.

The genuine VE pump is a quality piece, I would seriously doubt that the electric pump will do 160k Dan.
Good thing on a drag car but I wouldn't use one on a genuine daily driver.

I tend to agree however the same thing happens if the stock pump or belt fails. I have had a mechanically driven water pump fail and leave me stuck before. Electric pumps are likely to give you a life span in hours. Mechanical pumps are changed when they fail. More likely that you can get a mechanical pump if it fails though.

Good point Garry. Now that I'm doing FIFO, I don't drive it much these days. Will be doing a bit of racing with it.
