Bucking the trend for the rear spoiler and wheels to go a bit more conservative and look like this

Not sure if I will stick with the dealer tint or get it done myself, probably the latter so I can specifiy what I want and no one can tell me why the GTS full sized spare is more expensive than the other HSV models, perhaps it is an additional front wheel like the E1 rather than a generic 20" spare. Who knows?

On another note I just got confirmation that my car is going into production in July, Holden have switched a car with black interior to cream so I can have it in July and not August :dance:. The only thing that I may not get is the full size spare, I may have to wait a month for that.....no biggie to me :)

That makes some sense. I wonder how the boot space is compromised though. One of the things that steered me away from some of the other cars I looked at was the lack of room in the boot for a couple of sets of golf clubs. Hmmmm spare on top was not mentioned by dealer or HSV.

Good news on the earlier production for you! When I was first talking about the GTS delivery was late September now it is possible some cars will be delivered late August.

Thanks John, I wanted the full cream, but considering I have a young family and it's the wife's car mainly I didn't want the lighter colour getting stained. But yeh can't wait, been waiting along time.

I just updated my order. Pretty much what I had before, so white ssv redline automatic with wing spoiler, mats, tint, full size spare, lock nuts. I was thinking of adding a tow bar. But I don't tow enough times to warrant it at the moment.

Just got an update on the dealership. Delivery date is set for the First Week of July. :)

Dealer tells me that they are not 100% sure how much of the boot is taken up by the spare in the GTS. Doesn't bother me if it intrudes a bit. Assuming there is still a wheel well but that is is somehow shallower. Dealer isn't sure at this stage.

Same story. Dealer has emailed HSV to get information and preferably some photos but nothing yet. It is a little frustrating because if the tyre takes up too much room I would rather use the pump and goo 99% of the time and I have a 'spare' 20" rim that I can use the rest of the time. Ordering the spare means no goo.

Well she finally arrived and i took delivery yesterday afternoon ... makes the old VE SSV look a bit primative. Im a bit unsure about the different tyre diameters... the back wheel arch looks a bit empty compared to the front.

Ok put down my deposit today on my first Holden after many years of Fords and Mazdas. SS-V Redline in Fantale. Manual transmission. Will be collecting in three weeks when my finance is all through and sorted. Test drove the car today. Brilliant car.

Picked up my SSV Redline yesterday, put 140km's on it already just finding excuses to drive it. Unfortunately its cold, wet and miserable at the moment otherwise I'd be out there doing more. I have to say Holden have outdone themselves this time, I had sworn off them until I saw the VF, glad I gave them another go at winning me over. Didn't take me as long as I thought to get used to all the gadgets etc. Loved the fact that it can read out txt messages and can write them back with voice to text, used it yesterday when I was out and the wife wanted something picked up, very cool indeed.

Blind zone alert, remote vehicle start, electric handbrake, park assist, front sensors, better quality rear camera, Sat nav much better. It shows up closest servos when the fuel light comes on!! Comfortable, whisper quiet and getting 8.8L/100 with a mix of city and highway. Loving my new work ute.

The remote start is standard on the autos , I ordered the sat nav as an extra.

Just ordered an SSV Redline in black, Auto for this car as I have been driving VY SS 6 speed manual for last 10 years, It's kinda getting old in peak hour traffic.
They say 4 week wait maybe sooner.
Got a few extras, W310 Walkinshaw pack(yes I know about prices and exhausts), darkest legal tint, paint protection, interior protection, boot lip protector thingy for shopping, engine cover for a bit of bling, 6 year warranty, They threw in floor mats and full tank as usual. lock nuts(should come standard these days)
Only disappointment is they would not budge on black redline rims even offered to pay a bit extra, Wanted black on black looks like it will be an aftermarket job later on. If anyone at Holden is reading this OFFER customers the option of their colour choice of rims, I am not the only one wanting this!

Doesn't look like I'll be picking up the car any time soon, update yesterday from the dealership was the car is still in the build phase (four weeks now) due to 'constraints' on the Audio upgrade - I optioned in the Sunroof + Premium Sound.

Anyone heard of this before? I can't see the upgrade being much other than a new wiring loom, upgraded speakers, amp(s) and subs, its the SSV Redline/ Calais sound system after all.

Maybe there is a shortage on the loom, speakers or amps?

Are you VF guys finding delivery times to be quite lengthy? We ordered a Cruze SRi in the last week of July and we're looking at mid-October delivery now (11 weeks). Apparently there is high demand for the SRi/SRiV models at the moment so it may just be a Cruze thing.

you might be getting stuffed around. ask for printout of the milestone history so you can at least see its status printed out. Mine has now been built, was built august 12th and shipped to HSV. estimated delivery date is now sept 4th.

We'll use the E3 for another 18 months or so and replace it with something HSV then ... the SSV isn't expected to do much more than 5,000 kms pa ... looks to represent outstanding value and the extra $20K for an HSV doing those sorts of kms didn't make sense!

Is it correct that the first GTS' come off the line at the end of this month? I ordered a GTS around the 20th June and was advised delivery some time in November.

I asked that question of Holden once and they said up to 100km is acceptable. Occassionally they take a vehicle for quality control and can clock up these kms.....

I wouldn't be happy if it was my new car though....

They can't build Vf's fast enough I got told roughly 3 month wait for my SSV Redline, I read somewhere that V8's are making up around 50% of all sales so far, So it's not just a Cruze thing. Also they dropped production from 400 cars a day to around 300-320 I think they said on news a week or two ago.

You are right, They rang back saying 1 week as they had one in a country dealership and were going to bring it down to my dealership in Berwick. 2 days later my dealer rings me back saying they just found out from other dealer that it had been in a bingle previously in the back end and it was repaired, Dealer said look you are paying for a new car so I wouldn't get that one. Glad he was honest, Could of sold me it and said nothing. So now I am told they have placed an order to build one and it will be anywhere up to 3 months but will try push for one sooner! Rather not have anything rushed anyway, Always goes bad.
And yeah it's very disappointing on the rims, Quite a few people are after black rims on dark coloured VF's! Seen a few on youtube now with aftermarket black rims and it looks better in my opinion.
Don't really want to powder coat the chrome ones as they scratch easy, So now the pain of researching a good after market set that will fit brembo brakes, retain same size/profile so I don't have to recalibrate speedo, staggered and preferably black.
Ohh well better late than never I guess, Give me a bit more time to save and decide on a few mods. ;)

They said they couldn't option it as part of the build, but they would swap them from another Redline they had in stock. So those who have been whining about not being able to get them, it seems the dealers either weren't worried about losing the sales, or simply couldn't be stuffed about making the customer happy.

I'm a little baffled at Holden's decision to not allow the two top of the range vehicles to be not spec'd to a customers requirement (CalaisV & Redline SSV). Having seen an SSV at a local dealership in the exact colour range I wanted, I decided to put $$ on a Redline but was told I can't option up black on black interior, the only option was black with black AND light titanium finish - ridiculous!

can't pick black rims, can't pick black interior - either the dealer wasn't interested (unlikely) but surely Holden allow a vehicle to come in the desired colour???

My salesman showed me the build options and the black on black interior was a selectable item. I would've preferred that option too but his manager was there with us and told him that it wasn't an option. Yet he was more than happy to switch wheels for me. Seems either their system has a glitch that allows the interior to be changed for a build, or it's something they don't want to offer.

Thank you for that, I may see if I can arrange something also as I have a few months wait. I don't mind paying a bit extra if I had to but it is pretty ridiculous for them not to offer it in the first place.
Also would have preferred black interior on Redline rather than the beige/cream that suits Calais, You spend 60k or so you at least want a few little options to make it your ride.

Found out yesterday my redline ute is at the dealer. Regal Peacock looks brilliant from the photos the dealer has sent me. Flying to Melbourne from Tassie to pick it up grand final day. Will have had its gas conversion already done by the guys at APS by the time I get there. Twin hump hard lid will have been fitted by then as well. Tint, paint protection and interior protection to come on return to Tassie for less than half cost quoted by the MM at the dealer. Does anybody really pay $2000 for the protection??? Will post photo if requested.

This happened to me with the first dealer I went to.

12th July - placed order with dealer
every week since - I called to see where it was at
15th August - received GMON number from dealer and called holden CS to get more info ans was told dealer submitted order to holden on 12th August.

Dealer had promised delivery mid september, Holden CS said mid to late October, called dealer and told them to give me my deposit back because they won't be able to deliver their end of the contract.

Got deposit back and went to another dealer that had one in stock.


Why did it take the dealer so long to submit the order?

The dealer I went through said the delay was because they can't just order 1 car, they have to bulk order them. I don't know how true this is, but waiting a whole month before submitting my order really pissed me off.

As much as I want to call the dealership and rip them a new one for A. Delaying the order and, B. Lying to me its complicated as the salesmen is my ex's brother and he was trying to do me a favour. Having known him for over 10 years I'm going to assume he's been feed porkies by the Stock Manager and isn't lying to me but ya never know? I doubt its the sales staff who place the build orders?

The dealer I went through said the delay was because they can't just order 1 car, they have to bulk order them.

its now 11th September

a bit annoyed but there is nothing I can do


just got a call today , car has a arrived, just go's to show the dates aren't always correct, not that I am complaining

I got the GMON number from the Dealer, then called holden customer support to find out where in the process it was.

12 weeks for mine according to dealer . It might come out as a series 2 vf? Anyway , gives me a chance to decide on mods .

Get GMON (Gen Motors Order Number?) number from salesman/dealer, also got VIN.
They should get GMON when they order the car, and can track online.
Ordered (HSV T as in list) late June, was coming out of body shop early this week, may see it end of this month or early Oct.

dealer fitted item. while I was negotiating the deal with the salesperson, I asked for the catback, he rang a local exhaust shop for a quote and nothing was said about there not being a VF version.

I went with the twin 2.5", mine is a manual though so not sure how that will go with AFM as I know it can introduce a nasty drone if the exhaust isn't designed to get around it.

The typical X-Force note can be an acquired taste. Most X-Force systems I've heard are barky/raspy, even hollow sounding. When my son-in-law and daughter were still living here he had a VE ute with identical Pacemaker 4-1s and Ballistic cats but with an X-Force 3" catback compared to my KPM 3". It was a piece of cake to tell which car was started because of the "hollow" sounding nature of his X-Force. His was mild steel and after about 18 months he started having problems with it.

Most of the guys who go to Chev's on a Saturday arvo can tell if a car has an X-Force system due to their distinct sound, especially when floored. I pass no comment on whether they're good or bad but suggest listening to one before you buy to see if you like the sound. Sure, they're louder (often much louder) than stock but loud by itself doesn't necessarily equate to nice. Some people like the sound but others don't. Just sayin' ....... :)

Catback only will probably make SFA difference to power unless it's tuned to take advantage and even then it wouldn't be enough to feel on the road. In fact I've read of a number of cases (pre VE but I assume VE/VF would be the same) where a catback without a tune has actually lost power.

I'm with Wonky, X-force is definitely an acquired taste or maybe simply a budget restraint but i don't like them. To me they sound raspy as metallic at WOT and it's not a nice sound IMO.

KPM, Sureflow, or a Walkinshaw (HM Headers) system would be my pick and even the VCM systems sound good to but not sure if they still make them or not. Budget is always an issue and you get the best you can afford but Xforce would not be any where near my top of picks!
