Yes, looks like the XR8 will be the new GT. Ford doesn't have the money to blow on a two year model run for FPV.

Better news is that it looks as though a RHD Mustang is go for 2016. I'm happy to be wrong on that one, I thought we were getting led down the garden path there, but no, we will be getting the Mustang. Hopefully this news will get GM interested in a RHD version of the next Camaro so Holden has a V8 to sell beyond 2017.

Cheers, Matthew

FPV is perhaps putting all their efforts into a hot FPV Mustang for 2016 ???

I saw a black Camaro ZL1 on the way home from work last week. Cool looking car but bloody hell it's wide... unless it's just the low roof line creating an illusion? Made me feel like I was riding my bike not driving my car.

FPV don't really exist anymore, its been taken in house by Ford and they're closing down in 2016.

As for hot Mustangs, the last news I read on that was that there will be no supercharged version and that the performance version will be a 5.2L atmo V8. Admittedly further down the track Ford might come up with something else but that's the latest news.

Cheers, Matthew

Cheers, MatthewFord Oz has a small group as part of the global team working on the next Mustang...next month there is going to be a local release of info with US honchos coming here for some announcements. They need to counter the perception that Ford is getting out of Australia completely rather then the first of the "big 3" local manufacturers to stop.

Yep, Nissan and Mitsubishi took a dive in sales initially after closing down Oz manufacturing but have recovered. Ford will just have to get over the hump and I suspect make people realise Ford isn't just Falcon, they do actually sell some reasonable cars like the Fiesta, Focus and the Mondeo. A big marketing push wouldn't go astray.
