this car would beat the gts, the 4.1 is conservative try 3.8 consistent. The awd version with same power but 80kg heavier does 3.5sec to 100. gts and e63 are not on the same playing field.

Going on 249k retail probably at least 270k on the road or there abouts vs GTS my quote was 103k on the road so the E63 would want to be the worlds best car and smash the GTS into the weeds given it costs about 170k more lol

John Bowe has just done a test with the new GTS and its very similar in performance to the C63, the E63 is in another league.

I'm sorry but as great as the car is I can't justify the 2.5x sticker price of the hsv. You want mad raw stock power, import a 2013+ gt500 mustang and buy an hsv gts just for shites an giggles.

So where is this test result to be able to say it is very similar to the C63 ????

Straight from his FB page::

"We're up at Winton today doing a Comparison Test between the new GTS and a AMG C3 with Unique Cars magazine and Motor Magazine. They are two very different cars, both full of muscle. Interestingly, the lap times were within 1/10th of each other. I'm here with Uncle Phil (Walker) and the new HSV GTS, this is living proof why we need to protect our local car industry! Cheers JB"

The fact that the VF GTS can match the C63 is an excellent result.

The E63 however would be a different story....

Because the E63 has been officially crowned the fastest 4 door passenger car on the planet for 2014.

My friend just ordered one it cost him $296,000 with the ceramic brakes option which is a $25,000 option. This price is on the road but he hasn't got it yet its on order. Although he has a 2012 model now with the bi turbo with 410kw 800nm and he has clocked consistent 3.8sec to 100. The Mercedes times are always with two passengers with full tank of petrol and are always conservative. Not saying the GTS isn't a top car it an awesome car, but the E63 will just do everything a lot better. In any case the E63 costs around $160000 here the LCT is about $90,000 hence how you get to $250,000 than you add stampduty and dealer costs, options et etc and it skyrockets close to $300k.

Yeah, awesome car, but they ain't cheap, are they.
It will be "interesting" to see how far away the GTS is, against this car, I say it won't be that far....and for a car that will be nearly $200K cheaper, unless money is not an issue, the GTS will be a no brainer......BUT, I ain't COMPARING the two......they're both gonna be awesome.....in their OWN right.
Cheers, Pickles.

True pickles but you cant just compare them to the numbers, refinement, handling, steering feel, pretty much the way they drive will be different. I have driven the current E63 and it is so nice to drive very solid and surefooted. But yeh you pay big bucks for the privilege.

No worries, I certainly agree with you, we bought a C63 a year or so ago, & I did an AMG Drive Day at Phillip Island a few months ago....drove all sorts of cars.....CLS63, SL63 etc etc..bloody awesome....all of 'em....Ya can't beat an AMG?
My point is that hopefully, when we "finally" are able to read a "driving impression", or indeed, drive one ourselves, that we will be impressed.
Cheers, Pickles.

I think the E63 are a tad ugly and boring but I love the look of the C63. I will never buy a German car again, but if I did it would be the C63.

Yeh I own a E63 and a VE myself. So I know first hand the differences. I'm sure the VF GTS will be fast but I doubt it will be faster than 0-100 4.4 to 4.5sec I would think the 0-100 time as an educated guess would be around there. These new e63s can do mid 11 sec stock qtr mile times. I have heard reports they are achieving high 10sec with a tune only.

Wouldn't it be great if we got the A.W.D. version here?

And you don't believe a mere Euro car like the E63 has any Performance? It will out perform the GTS on all counts, the extra Dollars are for the Luxury, finesse & smoothness it has while doing so.

Not to mention balance, responsiveness, technology, safety and refinement. An E63 S is closer to a Bentley than a HSV. Only thing similar between them is the amount of doors and power figures.

Yes and no. While its great having AWD some times its better not having the extra traction like the Porsche GT2 vs the Turbo AWD

Hi

I cannot wait to take one of these babies for a test drive. I believe they have now reduced their cubic capactiy back to the 5.5 litre engine whilst still retaining the "63" badge on the car?
I would love to take the AWD version for a spin as soon as possible, my E55 has about the same power this new E class has because of the mods I have installed but mine is rated at the back wheels and with over 1000NM of torque at the engine, I wish I could add AWD to my car it would be an absolute dream to use that much power without wheelspin on a Melbourne rainy day.

This will be my next sedan, I wonder if it could do a high 10 second pass just by fitting drag tyres/wheels and front runners?...did somebody say "HEATHCOTE!" If this car is not going to be released by Mercedes Benz Australia does that mean we can import one from the UK already in right hand drive?

Richard

E63 A.W.D. will not be made for anywhere in R.H.D. at the moment....it has only been engineered, and being built, L.H.D.

My brother-in-law has the E63 AWD S on order and it’s due to arrive next month.
He’s in Connecticut, USA and I’ll be there in August & September and can’t wait to take it for a few test runs.

And I'll add, he paid just over $100k USD for it.

I have been told the 6.2 NA motor is still much better to drive although less powerful it is meant to be the best V8 NA engine ever made.
