Hey Guys,

Anyone bought a Manta Catback exhaust (3inch S/S) lately in Perth?

I did some checking on here through old posts and it seemed about $1800 was the go but after contacting Manta this morning I am looking at $2600 plus freight so I am currently waiting to see what MCE Motorsport comes up with price wise but wow didn't think they were that expensive.

Anyone got any prices they can share with what they have paid and from where?

Thanks,
Brendan.

I'll check my receipt for you when I can find it. Stainless twin 3" on a VY... VE may be more because its dual outlet?
Mines about 6-12 months old I think but pretty sure it was around the 2k mark.

2600 for just a catback? I would be shopping elsewhere.

will be cheaper thru MCE, to protect its suppliers Manta would have to sell for max RRP price otherwise there stockists wouldnt carry them as everyone would go straight to the source.

It is a bolt on package - only takes competent staff 30-40 minutes from start to finish - I was charged $60 to install mine as I didn't have the facilities at home to do it.

Yep, i comparing it to his original Manta quote of course.

KPM $2190 + P/H
Manta "$2600 + P/H"

If we want to compare apples as the manta was a 3inch

KPM $2490 + P/H
Manta 2600 + P/H (which is only $16)

If I am going to spend that much money id go see pro auto who are the stockist in perth for the KPM and I am sure I can probably do a slightly cheaper then the $2490

Ahh ok sorry thought it was for a 2.5", but still the KPM is probably the best sounding system i have heard. Pro Auto probably won't move much if any on the price and you still have to pay postage as well. They also sell the Manta system with the same 3.5" tips as the KPM.

Well if anything I should get the system for the same without postage as Pro Auto should get it cheaper to begin with

Seems there's quite a difference between VE and earlier systems. The early ones can be had for 1700.
Bestmufflers.com.au have the VE's for $2300 in stainless or $1500 in mild steel. Bought stuff from there before and they're very good but may be able to get similar pricing locally if you ring around.

Were these threads you were reading before quoting mild steel or stainless systems for that price as it seems its close to the going rate for mild steel.

I am not too sure now to be honest.

Heres the pricing I got back from MCE for anyone that's interested and well I fell off my chair at the S/S price.

Hi Brendan
In 3" twin for your VE SS we can do two systems option one is with centre
hot dogs and rear mufflers
Option two is centre muffler and rear mufflers, this is the quieter of the
two options
In mild steel
HD centre muffler rear $1780
Muffler muffler $1900
In stainless steel
HD centre muffler rear $2670
Muffler muffler $2900
All fitted cat back with twin tips per side.

With that pricing im either thinking S/S XForce 3inch for $1650 fitted or 3inch Mild Steel KPM for $1800 fitted.

Tho I spoke to Pro Auto who have a 3inch mild steel manta system to suit my car that they want to get rid of for $1600 fitted so if it's still there when I take possession of the car that is another option.

I thought that was just for their "premium exhaust systems".
In the VT-VZ range they also offer this so I'm guessing they do the same for VE, just don't advertise it as much...

" For those enthusiasts on a budget, KPM offer hand built Semi-Stainless Steel Systems using mild steel tubing and utilising our premium Stainless Steel Mufflers."

buggered if i know mate.

I think the "premium" is referring to it being a premium product not that it is their premium version. I have never heard of or seen a mild steel version but that could also be because i have never asked.

If you were to buy a 3inch to suit a VE SS Sedan then the site says $2010 plus shipping. So id say you would be around the $2400 mark from a shop.

Wow! Prices have really moved since I bought one for my VYII SS ute around 8 years ago - around $800 fitted from memory... Mild Steel, centre mufflers, rear resi.

GM Motorsport have the 3" at $2,290 fitted, although they do have sales a couple of times a year and sell them for $1,800.

I have had the 3" catback fitted to my VE manual clubby for about 2+ years, no problems and drone free, I had it fitted at the Di Filippo factory for $2,200. They are also backed by a 5 year warranty.

Thought I would update this, Turns out if I go the Stage 1 package from Active automotive (OTR, Tune, Full 3inch S/S Exhaust) which is $5000 I get a manta catback with the pacemaker headers etc. According to street quick performance website for $4990 I can get the exact same as above but with Difilipo so decisions decisions.

Easy as, sound and fitment! Whichever sounds and fits up the best is the one to go with.

What does Pro Auto quote these days for similar?

Not too sure didn't check with them for the full exhaust tune and OTR.

MCE were 6k for basically the same as active's so I hazard a guess it would be pretty similar.

I've just recently (Saturday) installed a manta cat back on my VZ LS2, fit is awesome and the sound is wicked, no drone at all.

I was originally also going to go the actives stage one, but i wanted to make sure i was getting premium parts ( no plastic shitty OTR, smaller headers etc)

Ended up purchasing a full exhaust ( 4 into 1 pacemakers with 1 7/8th primarys, hi flo cats and manta cat back ), fitted it myself along with a VCM OTR and got it tuned at WA Perf which saved me around $600.

I wouldn't go with whoever is the closest, just whoever you feel comfortable with. What's a tank of fuel when you're looking at dropping $5k? Also one tank of fuel spent now may be 100's of litres of fuel in savings due to a better quality tune... not to mention the way it drives!

SQP is the closest to me when I am at work and well I don't think anyone could fault there work, All comes down to the Difillipo vs Manta in the end as the 3 shops I would use (actives, WA perf or SQP) use one or the other and I doubt ill go wrong with any of them.
