View Full Version : Leave Page/Stay On Page

Wonky

In the last day or two almost every time I click on "reply to thread" Firefox comes up with a prompt asking me if I really want to leave the page. I've taken to doing a Ctrl-A/Ctrl-C to copy what I've just tried to post (so I don't lose it), then gone back and tried again, clicking "Leave Page". I've then discovered what I tried to post has actually posted even though I chose to Leave Page. However, whilst that has happened on most occasions, every now and again a post has just worked as it should, so it's not every time...........

I've also had a similar problem with editing posts when I click on Save, but instead of coming up with the Leave/Stay prompt, clicking on Save seems to do nothing (normally takes me back to the edited post) but if I then exit that screen and reload the thread my edit appears.

I'm sure it's nothing that's changed on my pc because it also happens on my second partition which I use for backup and nothing has changed or been updated on there since before this started happening. I therefore wonder if it's somehow related to the recent changes made to repeat post #1 of every thread at the top of every page (I use 20 posts per page).

 Just thought - maybe the times on which it hasn't happened has been when it has only been a one page thread - will see with future posts.

I'm using Chrome and notice the number of times it says you can't post within 30 seconds. So it's obviously trying to double post.
If I just click Quick Links, New Posts, it shows my post and doesn't double post.
Next time I might leave it and see if it double posts, and also keep an eye out if it's a multi page or a single page thread.

Sorry yes, we know about it Gary, there is a thread in the moderator's discussion about it, Internet Explorer seems to be the worst browser for the problems.
Bare with it, I think it is some minor conflict come in with some upgrades done over the last few days.
I had a massive problem with it yesterday booting me off the forum and deleting a thread I was editing at the time.
I am sure it will be sorted out in the near future.

Can confirm this bug is also happening in the latest version of Firefox, in all threads.

I had a double post happen yesterday that moderators thankfully deleted, That was on IE 10. Also had pc freeze and could not even ctl/alt/del while I was on forums had to hard reset, Never happened before although in last day or so there were a number of windows updates so the freeze may be that on my machine.

People are also having some problems with other browsers as well
but from what I have seen, Internet Explorer does seem to be showing the worst problems on this site at the moment.
(I use Internet Explorer mainly and Google Chrome also sometimes)

yes I noticed that..

Editing a post is worse, it posts but doesn't refresh the page edit remains open, i just hit refresh to insure it posted
