I've finally worked out how to post photos, not bad for someone who has been a member for 9 years...

Anyway here is a picture of my 420G that I am restoring, painted in 2010 Jag XF Botanical Green Metallic.

Here is the rebuilt rear suspension:

Brother in law has just shelved his Mk9 restoration (well, not a true restoration), but these things are enormous.

Thanks for sharing

My Best buddy had a 420 but the G is another size up

It ended up with a 327 /T400 in it.

Are you retaining the Jag running gear?

Well I've done the rear suspension, nexst step is the interior.

That's a shame, the MK 7/8/9 is a very elegant car.

Probably, sometimes I think about an LS1, I originally dreamt of a Jag 5.3L V12, hence my log in name, but sanity has prevailed.

Jaguar actually used the 420G as a test bed for the quad cam V12 from the still born XJ13 Le Mans racer, it has an engine bay big enough to fit anything. On Youtube there is a Jag MK X/420G in the US with a Buick 455 V8.

One of my inspirations to buy a Jag 420G was this early Street Machine Mag Expression Session. Unfortunately I can't find the second page of the story on the web which featured a fantastic looking roadster version with D-Type style fairings.2672

My first inspiration was a MK X we had in for a new interior, my father was a car upholsterer, I loved sitting in it and playing with the toggle switches on the centre part of the dash. They have a magnificent dashboard.

Do you know what edition it was in? I've got all but 2 from Dec 84.

Fantastic project Matthew. Good luck with it. There is nothing quite like an old Jag. I have a real soft spot for them after owning a couple of different models about 30 years ago.

It will be about June-August 1997 edition, one of those 3 will have it right up the back. I you could scan the pages I would be rapt!

Well I've finally towed the car up from Melbourne to Noosa and I have had a shed built in the back yard so all things are go.

BTW, the tow vehicle we used was a VW Amarok single cab diesel manual. It was excellent, with the trailer and the car in the photos above would have been just over 2 tonne (car is a shell with suspension) and the VW was getting 13L/100kms on the Newell, pulled well although needed a bit of planning overtaking (was good without the car on the way down, no complaints at all overtaking and just with the trailer was getting 10.5L/100kms thereabouts).

Just been getting ready to paint the shed floor so as soon as that is done I'll be bolting things onto the car, got quite a bit of the ancillaries to go in, I pcleaned, painted, recod as necessary just ready to go in.

Cheers, Matthew

After spending money on an LS3 for the Monaro and buying the Cascada the poor Jag has been fairly lonely. Need to get back into it, bolt some chrome work onto it and start trimming it.

It looked as though it was well on the way the last time you posted about it.

All these things seem to get in the way!

It's always a good thing having too many toys...

Then when you buy your Camaro as you said your thinking about, you'll have another Toy to play with... Good Job!!!...

The Cascada will go for the Camaro but I really do need to focus on the Jag. its dragged on for long enough...
