Im doing the 6 piston brake upgrade on my Monaro
Can anyone share info on what 18" rims will clear them as I'd prefer 18's over 19's as there is a better choice of rubber out there
Also any recommendations on tyres for track work - been looking at Toyo R888
TIA

I have VE II 19" rims on the car and have conflicting information as to wether I can fit the brembo brakes. Can someone give me a measurement from the disk to the inside of the rim that is needed to clear the callipers or definitely say yes or no?

BMW X5 rims mite fit, don't know if the off set is right for the monaro, The super sports i had on my XUV cleared , just,
I did run a 5mm spacer , in case a stone gotr flicked up between caliper and rim.
The nut pattern is right, they do have a 14mm hole, it didn't seem to be a problem on my XUV that has 12mm studs, you could put in 14mm studs.
They were cheap 60 bucks for 4 rims. Powder coated them black and they looked o.k.

M5 copies should fit ok too. M3 certain types too to get the better offset.
Same stud patten and just a small hubsentric ring for the difference in hub size.
About $200 each for copies. I have the same set from tempe for 6 years racing with 2 tonne car and street duties so are tough enough.
The clearance is huge with room to spare.

Listy - do you have a pick of rims, and widths/offset?

The 18" rims I bought as track rims have bulk clearance between my AP Racing 4 piston brakes, and they're a good looking rim IMO too which is a bonus. They're Team Racing Dynamics rims which are apparently used in the British Touring Car Championship, I think +45 offset from memory. Can get measurements from the calliper to the spokes if need be, they're still on the car since Racewars haha

Mine are circuit friendly and camber at 18x9 and +20 offset all round.
As mentioned the m3 offset will be better for less camber or street use
Same as these. Couple of offset options listed there on the add. Tempe did not have them listed or in 19x9

Ev can you flick up a pic please, and measurements would be awesome.
Listy - thank you
I'm not overly worried about street friendly rims as the car will now be a circuit style car to make the best use of its set up.
Ive got SQP putting some new styled heads on the 402 stroker to up the hp more to boot as well.

The team dynamics are better priced these days so are more reasonable 500 per wheel. Maybe cheaper too with them doing the supercars.
There are other options but offset will be the factor if just track day, camber you want with type of suspension. Stick em out and bend em in low offset.

Minimum distance between the front callipers and spokes is 30mm, an easy 15mm+ between the calliper an the inside of the rim, probably closer to 20mm, but 15mm is the safe bet. They are advertised as around 10.5kg, so they're light but not crazy light, but they're also a lot cheaper than going forged rims. Mine are the Pro Race 1.2 rims from memory. Second hand although they were never used, I paid around $1200 I think which was pretty close to what the original owner paid, but he also had them imported from the UK I think due to being able to save some money compared to buying locally.

These are Koya Racing 18 x 8.5 ET35 that I have for track days, which clear the 4-pot brembos by about 10 mm. My understanding is that the 6-pots don't protrude quite as much. The reduced offset over standard ET48 combined with the slightly convex rim configuration does the trick.

I've got these on my ute, u pick the offset and they machine them to suit. I like them.

shit 1200 for a set of forged rims is ridiculously cheap! I like the look of the Koya (which appear to be a Work Emotion KAI rip off) and the Team Dynamics ones - 10.5kg on an 18 is a respectable weight too.

They're not forged :(
Looking at how much the calliper sticks out on Q_Cars pic I'm doubting whether or not they'll clear these rims. Happy to lend you one of them if need be for a trial fit Faedy, I have to get around to putting my street wheels back on at some point
Also, Team Dynamics do an 18x9 rim in my model, +30, +20 and +15 offset. If my rims manage to clear the brembos, I'd be happy to go halves in a set of 18x9s and swap out 2 of my rims, so we each have a pair of 18x8 (front) and 18x9 (rear). Just a thought, no idea on the logistics, or even if +30 would fit under my rear guards

These are the kind of wheels needed, non-dished , low offset, meaning +38 or lower offset of the wheel mounting flange is closer to the center of the wheel. Although our oem +48 18" gto wheel just clear not all staggered wheels with that offset will.

I could be wrong, but I thought I read that you fitted a small 3-5mm spacer in order to fit the oem +48 18" gto wheel over the brembo brakes

And here's another option. TSW Mallory 18 x 8 ET35. The TSW Carthage and Donington styles also fit (we tried them). I'm quite stoked with how the car looks with them on.

That was with the original design which utilized a different rotor. The current 355mm ve front rotor design clears no spacer with the +48 18" gto wheels.

Your car looks crazy delicious with that wheel/brake/color combo.

TSW Mallory 18 x 8 ET35 (and the TSW Carthage and TSW Rivage and TSW Donnington in same sizes) all fitted as well. I went with the Mallorys for my road rims.

PBR M Brakes supply a Template that you print and glue to a sheet of cardboard to check wheel clearance, someone (Damien) needs to do one for the Brembo's ;)
