V8 Supercars are making all sorts of "statements" as to why they ain't going to Texas.
I believe it all boils down to the drastically reduced TV deal now in place, the funds from which usually pay for all the logistical stuff, like transport etc. But there ain't no money left now,...so they can't go.
That's my take on it anyway.
Cheers, Pickles.

I'd also suggest the lack of Fords in the series weighs into the decision as it reduces the fan base in what is effectively now a GM car based series.

Bit of a shame about that. They usually get a good turn out over there. I wonder how many years the V8 supercars have left? Falcons will be gone and commodores soon after I'd say, then what. A gridline full of imports!

For sure....that will be absolutely true,.....but then again,.......all the cars on our roads will also be......"Imports".

Future of v8 supercars? I wouldn't be surprised if it turns into a British Touring Car Championship clone. To be honest I would welcome it, great to watch!

Haven't really watched much of the British Tourers, I'm sure it's great and real competitive. But my sentimental side is really gonna miss the Holden / Ford rivalry. But I guess they will both have some sort of car to enter, just not a RWD V8.

They have tried to blame X-Games now being in Austin on the 15-18th of May but surely if they really wanted to go back they would have made it another weekend. I agree I think V8Supercars is really struggling at the moment. I bet Tony C is glad he has nothing to do with it now.

Everybody seems to assume that because the falcon is going there will be no fords racing. They will simply either race the mondeo or change the rules to allow the mustang to race. V8 supercars are trying to shift to a Nascar mentality where you support the make not the model that is being raced as per the Fusion (mondeo) and the Camry. As far as Texas goes many people who would have went or made a weekend of it also have to compete with the Nascar events that run practically every weekend from February through to November. I cant recall but I think the Nascar round run this year was quite close relatively to Texas.

Personally I dont care what they race as long as they have V8's in them. Could not care less if I can buy the model with a V8. Production car racing has been dead for decades.
