Hi Guys,

Are there any VY owners on here with white LED park lights that actually produce a really nice whiter...around the 5000K colour range?

I've tried multiple T10 LED globes and they all seem to look blue or purple due to the cylindrical shape of the VY park light chamber. My Dad has a VS Commodore and with exactly the same T10 LED globe he gets a strong white light due to how the parker sits inside the whole headlight.

If there is a VY owner on here with white T10 LED globes that actually produce a white, can you please send me a link or tell me where to buy them from???

Thanks guys

I bought some of these off eBay, they've worked fine since August last year, and I leave my parkers permanently on. I'm not sure of the colour temp. I'll try and take a picture of them tonight so you can see how bright they are.

Thanks XUV. I was thinking about 4300K which in theory is pure white however I've also seen some globes that were meant to be 4300K and the light was still slightly yellow.

it's weird that you find LEDs a bit yellow , as the LEDs I've bought have been truck loads whiter then the standard torch in a vb stubby bulbs.
I bought some of these for reversing http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BA15S-7W-CREE-Q5-Car-SMD-5050-Wedge-LED-Reverse-Lamp-Bulb-White-Turn-Tail-Light-/140857736413?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20cbc67cdd

Thanks XUV, I do have LED reverse lights and they emit an awesome strong white light. I'm just having the problems with the VY Parklight for some reason. My current T10 LED lights have a slight purple colour to them...very weird...

Here's a photo from a while ago...however the iphone's camera doesn't really show how purple the T10 LEDs are. The purple is alot more evident by human eye just when the sky is starting to go dark

It is a VY, but it's a Cross 8, it has the similar lights to the VZ SS, not the VY, sorry, but here's some pics from today in a car park. They are brighter in the photos than they actually are, but they are still pretty bright.

Thanks mate, I'll buy them and give them a go. For some reason (for a VY headlight), the cylindrical chamber that the park light sits inside really screws up the colour that is emitted...

you didn't view it after taking morphine, coz that'll put a purple tinge on everything ;)

Nice ride Red Beard , what type are those LED's?

Yes, I definitely think the little round parker screws up the colour somehow...and sorry I should have specified that I have a VY SS S2

Thanks XUV, I wanted something bright, so I hunted down some CREE leds, same as in my Led Lenser torches. They came from a local guy in Sydney, so if there were any problems it was an easy swap. I did have trouble with one of them, it flickered, he said they were fully tested before he sent them. I played with the terminals to make sure they made full contact. No problem since then. In August I drove to Alice Springs, Uluru, Coober Pedy and Broken Hill, 6595 kms in 13 days, parking lights on the whole way, 75 hours of driving, up to 8 hours a day. No problems at all. They've been in the car since August last year, about 450 hours of use, and still going strong.

I've got a few T10 LEDs left from when I did my number plate lights (I changed out one of the lights for a reversing camera that had a LED builtin so I had to try to match it on the other side). I don't know how they'll work for you but here's how they look as number plate lights. If they're any good to you then you can have them. Note the blue around the edge is the blue paint of my car.

In my old ute, I used AuraXT Plasma 6 T10 Wedge globes (Incandescent not LED), they had the perfect colour, albeit they are not as bright as LEDs. There is also another brand I have tried which look exactly the same but were more readily available to me.

Anyways here is a comparison of the AuraXT on the right and Philips BlueVision on the left... (Don't take too much notice of the second picture, they aren't dull like the camera shows)

Thank you Davo, that's very kind of you to offer. I too have the exactly the same LEDs in my numberplate lights as I do in my parker's...yet the numberplate led shines bright white and the parker looks friggin purple.

Hey mechatron, what are you running for the driving lights? Are they HID?

Yes, they sure are. Both my low beam and fog lights have 35W HID kits installed. Although the HID globes in the fog lights can only be used when the roads are empty because these HID fog lights are really bright...although they're not really classed as fog lights now, nor do they work well in fog now. But they do really help light up the part of the road just in front of the car where the normal headlights miss.
