Just a quick well done to Peter after his efforts in the heat at QLD, 11.11 at 123.46mph was just amazing considering it was so stinking hot. The next night meet at ECR should be very interesting, it'll either go a ten or smoke 'em as soon as it gets off the VHT.

good result there pete in that heat.

howd the scoop go, do you have a box and seals attached to the bottom of the bonnet that comes down around the manifold when shut to keep the stationary/under 20kph heat out?

the car back yet to sus out the offending demon part that need an upgrade ?

Have a look at the photo below. The wind was blowing from right to left. Have a look at the heat mirage coming up from the hole in the bonnet.

That's HOT!

going by that no box fitted then, the 8tbs would be sucking in loads of heat then until the car reached some air speed to blow down on them. even then air pressure from the front bar intakes may overpower the scoop until higher speeds, allowing the heat to escape that way. Really need a box that will come down and seal around the manifold. probably a 2 pce box 1/2 fitted to the manifold/heads, 1/2 to the bonnet with a flexible rubber seal between that allows for the motor moving. then some sorta built in filter also to stop sucking up bugs and plastic bags etc.
Like it is i'd say the qtr would be a qtr over before the motor got some cold air from above. this idea is for sale;)

Is there an LS1 in Aust that runs 10's N/A (No NOS)?!
Was there any NOS used? Pump fuel?

Top effort PlanB! Our plan is to just catch you!

Great to watch you snaking all over in 1st & 2nd gear with slicks. While the engines being worked on I would be looking at the 10 inch slicks to get traction.

Enjoyed catching up with you guys & experience such a great event. 10 sec is no more than traction & a cool night away Pete.

You know there will be lots of guys from here next time you run at the creek .... just to see you drop into the 10's

Congratulations on that time Pete.

According to Wheels: Ferrari Enzo 0-400 = 11.0secs.

Must be nice to know that basically to go that fast, you have to modify it or do it yourself (or both) regardless of how much money a person has to spend on a car. You can't walk into a dealer and buy a "stock" car that goes that fast.......

It must be very satisfying:burnout:

Wow. Unbelievable Pete, congrats !!

It doesn't seem that long ago that you and Al were running low 13's and itching to go faster... 11.1 is f@cking incredible !!

Isn't it funny that no matter how fast you go, everyone expects you to immediately go quicker. Having said that, bring on a 10... :p

Cheers,
Paul...

*edit* Just had a squizz at the quick list and your new time is up.
Remind Cam that 11.11 is quicker than 11.16 will you Pete ?? :D

Congratulations Pete, it was great having you up here and getting to run against your ute...that was an 11.4 v 11.7 but you were steamrollin past me.

I had my doubts that you would do a ten only because you don't have enough tyre.
Glad you had fun I can't wait for next time.

Congrads PlanB!!

Just wondering what your 60' time was as i have been unable to find it.

As a comparison for you, when i was running 11.0's with the std IRS rear end on a 9" tyre my best 60' time was 1.512 secs. Surprisingly it wasnt my CV joints that let go, but the diff centre itself on the 5500rpm launches!!

Again well done and good luck for chasing 10's!!

Thanks again, yeah Justice, I need eight paint trays filled with more orange paint. :D

GMVPSS thanks, 1.65 normally and on this run, but I got a lot of 1.8’s on the day. Like Lindsay says I need more tyre than this. Cat12z is currently building an auto for the car and whilst I’m getting a cage fitted I’ll be looking seriously at changing the rear end. Lol, when it’s back it should be good for mid 12’s I reckon.

It will be the first caged, tubbed, 422 plumbers ute in Aust. Id love to see the look on peoples faces at the lights when you pull up next to them, tray full of equipment then:burnout: gone

Hang on a minute wasnt it a 11.11 sec ute, adding a cage shouldnt add 1.4sec on to you time. Im confused.

Peter, very nice times and in the heat too. Looks like the 422 is proving tough and is doing it's job well.

Bet you could just taste a 10 out there, sooo close!

10's are in the bag in you current trim with a nice cool evening. Bring on EC! Hope that roll cage is handy, they'll show you the gate next time you blast out of the hole. :burnout:

Now imagine how you'd be comparing with the yanks if we had 2-300 less kilos in our cars to match the weights of the F-bodies et al.

:D I used to know a guy who set everything up to run 10's and never saw em. It can happen.

Thanks Brian, yeah 2-300kg less a big arse rear end and a slippery body. Now that would be fun.

I still dont get it, how can a once 11.11 sec ute become a mid 12 sec ute by putting BETTER rubber on it and a roll cage, one would expect slight drops in time due to the added weight of the cage but as stated above not 1.4 sec. like I said I just dont get it, could someone please explain.

Hi Pete,

congrates on the new engine and times.

I was thinking you MPH was a little low for the power your making are you hitting the finish line at full rpm?

What width are your rear tyres? 8s?

I think you will find that an auto will see you into the tens.

Good luck..

Rob.

Thanks for the Vid, Jonesy. Sensational. :D

Rob, Yeah MPH was a little low I guess. Lindsay said I was still wheel spinning in the later end of the track when I ran him. Who knows, don't really care either cause I've got some setting up to do. :)

Congrats. Nice time- I was seriously considering being there, but uni got in the way. :cussing: Now I'm just gonna have to make a trip down south to see you run. :p

Lindsay (the other one)

PS. What's involved in tubbing a ute? Obviously, if you go insane, it'll cost heaps, but what about if you wanna be able to put ~305's on the back of a HZ styleside? (Kinda off topic, I know)

I think that was the run where a gasket decided it would retire for the day - and we all started :bawl: 'cause we wouldn't see it run anymore that day

I think you'll find the rev on the vid came from the car staging next to the camera behind me, because I was happily in 3rd gear when I bent number 8 push rod. It poked into those gay rocker cover spacers and let some oil onto the headers. Fortunately no oil made it onto the track.
