Hi guys,
Probably been asked 1,000 times but interested in the differences between the Harrop 2300 and Magnuson 2300 for a VT 383. I'm going to talk with some of the forum sponsors but interested in what advice/experience fellow forum members may have.
From what I've seen there is a bit of a price difference between the two so my question is why...?
Is it simply Aust pricing vs US pricing or is there more to it....
Do they perform the same with similar power and torque bands or is one blower better than the other? I know the internals are the same (Eaton) but the casing designs and kits are done by each brand.
How does they bypass valve work, is it based on throttle position or revs?
Is the throttle body and air intake part of the kits or additional items?
Happy to hear any comparative comments you may have.
Thanks for your time.

Yes seems to be a lot of talk about Magnuson (Heartbeat) lately. Should clarify that I'm talking about a VT (old school)...

Pretty sure that the heartbeat blowers are not designed for LS1 heads at all so you would need a different setup to run one of those.

Thanks Brett SS, as you've mentioned the Heartbeat wouldn't fit up to the VT so not a consideration in my case.
I was looking at the Magnuson MP2300 vs Harrop HTV2300 and interested if either has any major advantage over the other.
Thanks.

Personally I would go with the MP2300 with cogged overdriven rear pullies. What compression ratio is your stroker running?

I'd just go with the Maggie (or should say did). IMO there's nothing in it performance wise, it's purely a cost thing... and I couldn't get the Harrop in black when I bought mine.
Other option is the whipple ;)

Just re-read your OP and spotted questions that I missed before!
The bypass is the same style for both blowers, it works on throttle position/vacuum and not revs. You can rev it all the way to redline with no boost if you were gentle enough on the pedal. They're usually around the 50% mark I think before they kick in.
My Maggie kit came with an adapter to use the earlier LS1 3 bolt throttle body, otherwise the 4 bolt style will fit straight on if you've got an aftermarket 90mm or similar. I went with a Holley. Intake from TB to factory airbox is included in the kit but again, I went with an aftermarket Duspeed OTR. There are a few options around

I sent VCM an email not long ago asking this question. I was told that there is no guarantee that they will make them and if they do it be at least 1 year away.

I'd love to hear more on this too.
I'm thinking of charging my cammed ssv manual but don't want to be belted up the a$$ over cost.
