Hi All,

First time post on here.

I inquired with McGrath Holden Liverpool for servicing on my 2010 Holden JCruze CDX (Turbo Diesel) which has approached it's 45,000km target.

After receiving a rather large $740 Quote with them I was wandering if anyone can recommend another service agent who can fulfill the manual prescribed servicing for a cheaper price?

Someone's recommended Bonnyrigg Tyres...

Open to all feedback!

Regards,

Dan

Not sure about Holden dealers but a guy here at work has a 200 series Land Cruiser that's due for its 100k service and just from ringing various Toyota dealers he got prices ranging from $550 to almost $1100. I've seen parts prices vary between Holden dealers so it wouldn't surprise me if their service costs vary as well. If you want to stick with Holden then ring around the various dealers and see what you get quoted.

Reckon I would ask them to give you a written quote on what they "actually" perform opposed to the tear out section of your log book!
You will do better from a private shop I think! Trouble is finding a good one ;)

My advice would be to do it yourself, if you don't know how there are heaps of how to's on the net. If you still aren't comfortable go to Midas. They do some good work at a reasonable price.

Unless you are a qualified mechanic then that is not an option (warranty will be voided), to ensure warranty is maintained i wouldn't take it anywhere but a reputable workshop.

True. I didnt take that into account. Well my sisters use Midas for their log book servicing. They charge a fair price and dont put any bullshit expenses on the receipt. So thats why i mentioned them. Ive never bought a new car so always did my own servicing.

Any recommendations withing Western Sydney area are appreciated.

I've been told a quote of $190 but I strongly doubt that includes all things

I have a 150 Prado & it's nearly due for it's 80k service. Local Toyota Dealer quoted $1100, nearly fell off My seat. won't be getting serviced at Toyota again thats for sure.

Is that a major service including cam belt & perhaps water pump Mike?

Its funny how people wing about a major service costs but are happy to pay 1k for a flash tune. 80k service on a diesel 150 prado is 5 hrs labour.

Exactly why I explained above that the Op should obtain a written quote compared to the general Log book requirements for that vehicle! Only then can you compare apples for apples.

Inquired with Bonnyrigg tyres, they quoted me $200 for 45k service.

Key items on the Car service coupon were replacements of Oil, water filter and pollen filter(not necessary imo). So I ensured these were included.

Pollen filter is an additional $90 so don't think i'll opt for that.

Thats cheap mate, the 45k service is 1.7 hrs, oil, oil f, cabin filter. drain diesel filters, synthetic oil, my sell price $85 for the oil, why not replace the cabin filter, it will need it. The cheapest option is not necessarily the best, dont cut corners mate, just get it done properly.

You reckon I need to replace the cabin filter(pollen filter)? Why(not very automotive) ?

They get covered in crap, leaves, dirt etc, they start to smell, it will need doing.

Change it for the sake of hygiene. They start to smell, that smell is mould/mildew buildup. Not very nice.
