Help to further ID this engine and trans

A mate is doing a conversion and wants to verify the engine build details if possible from its stamped numbers. Also he picked up another 4L60E box but its not stamped the same as the old one.

engine should be a VS 5ltr

heres the replacement box with very little stamped on it.

and the number 51 stamped on the side..

any help would be appreciated as he needs to positively ID them so he can sort the wiring loom out.

VU engine number is a start as -
VU - VN to VS 304 (except VSIII ute and Statesman with 179kW engine)

also get the cast data off the pad at the front of the engine above the timing cover
it will say something like.... 22A4 or similar and post that (which will help us confirm the engine)
