Hi Guys,

Quick question, will the 17 x4" Oz Racing looking space saver fit over my VT-VZ Harrop Performance brake kit? The fronts are 343mm x 32mm like the VY R8 brakes & rears are 343mm x 28mm. Thanks guys

Here's a pic:

I have the SV6000 rear discs on my thing which I believe are 343mm diameter and that's the spare I use, I can only use it on the rears as I have 355mm fronts, you'd have to check Spoke to calliper on your fronts.

Thanks IJ. I just went on the Harrop website and they state that 17" wheels will fit over these brakes...so it just depends if the spokes clear the calipers.

Also I believe the space saver in the pic above is from a VZ Monaro & from certain HSV models

Your spacesaver in the pic is identical to mine, very light and with a VE Tire on it matched the diameter of tire I run on the car, I believe there's an 18" one around as well, that might be the HSV one you mentioned.

Thanks for the info IJ. I'm trying to find the smallest space spacer I can that will fit over my brakes...preferably 4" wide to replace my 19x8" spare...,I'm trying to gain more space to stick some amplifiers in there.

And that 18" space saver will definitely fit over my brakes....thanks IJ

I run that spare on my car, fits no worries over my Harrop 343mm kit. just have to make sure the lead balancing weights are on the outside of the wheel otherwise they foul on the caliper.

i just carry a can of tyre inflator worked perfect a few times for me !! obvious no good if you rip half the sidewall open but for punctures its good !!! just a thought !!

Yes most modern utes don't come with a spare!! Instead as you say a can of spray goo!!!

I used to carry it cause I had vz r8 brakes !!! now I,ve got stock brakes but have a 12 litre water/meth tank sitting in spare wheel well hahah

Thanks heaps everyone for your input. It seems like both the 17" and 18" space saver will fit over my Harrop brakes.

Also I would have normally considered tyre inflator however the side wall had ripped away from the wheel the last two times I had a flat...and that was twice in 1 year.

I managed to get myself a 17" Monaro space saver...it fits but fark me there isn't much space left between the caliper and the wheel

Damn that's close!

Yeah it's very close...there's like 1mm clearance....maybe less...lol

Well you can only do 80 Kph and there's no way to side load it so it flexes into the calliper so it "should" be okish ;)

Think I'd have gone the 18", I have the 17 for mine but my wheels are all the same size so if I get a flat on the front I swap it with a rear and put the spacesaver there ;)

Thanks IJ, Blue has apparently used this wheel with his Harrops quite a few times and never had an issue...so in theory I should be ok as well...hopefully

But I know what you're saying...getting the 18" space saver would have been a safer choice giving more clearance.

For me it was a case of I got the 17 at a good price and was able to source a VE Steel space saver to get it's bigger dimater tyre that matched the diameter of the rubber I run :)
(at the time I was thinking of running a conventional LSD in the rear so matching diameters were impoortant)

I think you'll be fine!

Yeah it was the same situation for me as well, I found the 17" space saver with an unused tyre for less than half the price of what I could get the 18" version for ...I also like black better than a yellow...so that settled it for me...lol
Also I looked into getting a VE space saver tyre but it worked out that it was going to be 1" larger in diameter than my actual 19" tyres, whereas the 17" space saver tyre was 0.8" less in diameter
