Hey guys,

Was wondering if anybody has or is running 20x9.5 on the rear of a vt?

Looking at putting 8.5 on front and 9.5 on rear have read a lot saying can't do it and also a lot saying 20x10 will fit on rear?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

Number of threads on the matter. Offset is important, guard roll and maybe slight guard pump if you want to go low. Depends on spring rate, rear passengers too as to issues with scrubbing.

With The right offset, guard roll, 275 or 285 tyre and don't run it too low it will go in.

Thanks

Guards are rolled already car ATM isn't to low sits with tyre half in guard. So would guess it would create issue with tyres if offset was incorrect or tyres to wide.

Also has a camber kit installed to fix camber issues but guess won't help me if I want to put bigger tyres on rear.

All threads i have found haven't really helped as to many people have said nah can't do it! Then oh I have 20x10s but no further details on offsets to help work things out.

+30 to +35 is very close on the back . Front +38 to +45 but if you run coil overs it can create issues with clearance. There are options with that too. .
If you can test fit at a tyre place that is the best option.
This is based on my knowledge so don't order a set if $5k wheels on my advise.
It a guide though

Cheers

Sadly no chance of trial fitting as have yet to seen wheels for sale in Brissy.

The wheels are Simmons replicas so lucky are not the real ones and surely don't share the price of real ones either :D

Maybe a 3 grand gamble mmmm wheels or mast Motorsport heads ahhh lol

No idea if they will fit, but they will NOT be legal in QLD.

A vehicle is not deemed roadworthy if the original manufacturer’s front and rear track measurements for a car or car derivative is increased by more than 26 mm. This means you can go 1 inch wider than the largest wheel combination offered by the manufacturer on your vehicle. On the VT, this would have been 18x8's, so putting 9.5's on the rear is not legal.

That's not entirely correct, read the information again, there isn't a rim width specified, only track measurement, see note 4 below.

4) Where the manufacturer offers the option of a wider track measurement (e.g. where
wider wheels are optional), the maximum allowable track will be the maximum wheel
track offered by the manufacturer or the track of the standard vehicle plus 26 mm for a
car or car derivative or 51 mm for a four wheel drive/off-road passenger vehicle,
whichever is the greatest.

If my memory serves me correctly 18X8 Commodore wheels are +48mm offset, the ones mentioned are +43mm which will increase the vehicle's track over the largest size optioned for a VT however, I'm not sure what offset the standard 6" wheels are and how the two relate. Although it's probably unlikely, your +43mm 9.5" wheels may not increase the track over the standard 6" wheels by more than 26mm so they might still be legal going by note 4 above. If you can find a 20x9.5 with a +48mm offset and the appropriate sized tyres that aren't more than 1.3 times wider than the front, meet the overall diameter specs and clear the bodywork inside and out and suspension they should be perfectly legal in QLD, I hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Jason.

If the offset of std rims is 48P and the new rim is 43P then this has increased the track by 10mm (5mm each side x 2) and doesn't matter how wide the rim is as track is always measured from centre of wheel/tyre same as offset.

Surfwagon,

Thanks for the offset/track lesson, you might want to read my post again, COMPLETELY this time, see the relevant section below.

"If my memory serves me correctly 18X8 Commodore wheels are +48mm offset, the ones mentioned are +43mm which will increase the vehicle's track over the largest size optioned for a VT however, I'm not sure what offset the standard 6" wheels are and how the two relate".

I'm assuming that 18X8's with a +48mm offset are the largest size optioned for a VT, if standard VT 6" wheels also have a +48mm offset (I don't know what they are) then his current 20X9.5's at +43mm will still be perfectly legal from a track standpoint based on note 4 which I also included.

I'm fully aware that if you have two different width rims with the same offset, the track remains the same, that's the point I was trying to make to the OP, the rim width in his case doesn't matter, I thought what I posted was pretty straightforward.

Best wishes,

Jason.

Current wheels are actually 245/30/20 on 8" not 8.5 offset 40 ;) and wanting 9.5 Simmons fr20-1 with +43 offset I believe

Any fitment guidance or possible issues I may have would be appreciated ;)

Thanks for the above also

Simmons (Tempe Tyres) now make one piece fr20's with tyres for about $2300..... Guess they seen the light like mc racing or the fact they were losing tens of thousands of dollars to them lol

Yea they the ones I'm looking at ;) but unsure of fitment or possible issues but thanks
