Hi guys, looking at upgrading the stock SS head unit in my 08 VE.
Looking at 3 possibilities.
1- Series 1 SSV setup.
2- Series 2 Setup
3- Alpine aftermarket screen setup.
What do you guys recommend.
I do like the series 2 look alot but unsure how costly this may be and availability still
Thanks a lot

We have a 08 and 09 ss and have upgraded both to SSV, bought them for a good price off ebay and got Doubledip to program. If you can get a series 2 one cheap go for it(you do have to get trim pieces etc)

thanks for the reply mate.
Hows the SSV units. Id imagine its a lot better then the SS.
How much was it to get it programmed if you don't mind me asking.
Ive seen some on ebay sell for $250-300 for the screen section and the plastic surround with electronic gauges which seems fair. id imagine thats all you need as the rest looks the same?
Series 2 seems to need a lot more bits. From what I've read its a lot dearer to get them programmed for series 1 might get myself in to much trouble without bait more research going the series 2 path.

I've just upgraded one of our cars (non commodore), ended up looking at the aftermarket direct fits, and then a long hard look at Alpine. Ended up going with a Pioneer as it was a great price Vs features. We didn't have steering controls to integrate into.
Jbhifi Pioneer AVHX8550BT (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/gps-car-audio/in-car-entertainment/pioneer/pioneer-avhx8550bt-7-multimedia-player-with-bluetooth/388550/)

Just recently blew my HIQ unit up on Series 2 SSV, had a look around at the options, and decided to drop $1070 on another HIQ unit. You get new maps and firmware with it, best solution for hvac and odometer / vss integration.

I pretty much want a updated look as you can imagine the stock series 1 ss is very bland.
I like the series 2 look a lot just getting prices now to buy it all seperate and have someone program the unit to work with my car.
Is the sv6 and ss the same facia in series 2?
Thanks guys

Decided its between series 1 SSV/Clubsport unit and the IQ unit. Seen a few alpine units over past few days and not a fan.

If you just want to change the look, then go with the either of the holden units depending on your preference and cost. If it was for upgraded audio, then the fascia allowing an aftermarket unit would be the option hands down.
