hi, i recently purchased a silver ss wagon that has a leather 6th seat, apparently factory fitted? the rego label, plate all say 5 seats. when questioned the owner said it was a special run, only a hand full made. i have seen one of these before, any info would be good. thanks Marty.

I think you mean a small twin seat in the rear cargo area, making it a seven seater?
Unless fitted by HBD off-line but still in Adelaide, it wouldn't be close to "factory fitted". It would normally be a dealer fit item of a "factory" (ie genuine) accessory.
I wouldn't always believe everything owners say either. Many people say things are factory fitted because the shiny new car is delivered to them that way. ;)

I'll add that a true "six seater" would mean a small seat in between the two front buckets where the console is.
I have no information to suggest that ANY model from VT onwards ever offered a "factory" 6th (front) seat. That stopped with VS.

I have a 2003 VY SS wagon in red, and I have the original factory brochure for these limited edition cars (the silver was the rarest colour, I think only 150 made. Red and black more common).

No reference in brochure to this seat. Never seen it.

(GREAT cars, right? ;-) )

I would be concerned if it didn't have a compliance plate for the extra seating and it was not registered with the correct seating capacity. I can't imagine Holden making a mistake like that. Can't see it as a factory error.

With the enduring popularity of the limited edition VY SS wagons, and the healthy uptake of SV6/ SS/ SSV VE and VF wagons, it's a little surprising Holden didn't do it a little more often in the earlier days. Perhaps they didn't think the less "lifestyle" like styling of pre-VE would take off as a regular variant.
On a side note, I'll make a special mention to the VL Calais wagon too! Rare, and enduring in popularity (if not totally flogged out by now).

I had mine at the car wash yesterday and had a guy come up and show it some verbal love.

Mine has 235,000kms and is just awesome. I am the second owner. Complete service history. Oil changes every 10K without fail.

when it dies, I will get another LS1 installed.

They hold so much, look so good, and go so well. I just prefer it in eveyr way to the shorter wheelbase VE/VF SS wagon.

Yes, it has a single leather bucket seat in the rear. I have seen the twin seat, dealer fitted would be the correct term. I'll try to add a pic.as for the plate issue would there have been a change in compliance "post" 2004 for such items? After driving a pajero it's a great change.
