Hey all

wondering if i could get some help

I need to replace my diff according to Holden as it has a whine. and they wouldn't attempt a diff oil change as i requested when i was getting my auto serviced

the only info i can get off the diff is Borgwarner LSD 0576-039902 with a 4 bolt flange

My car is a 2000 VT S2 Berlina station wagon with a gen 3 LS1 Automatic
No traction control.

at 100kms it sits at 1900rpm

when i release the accelerator it then makes the whine.

But anyhow i need to know what i can buy to replace this , any links from gumtree or ebay would be appreciated.

I am located in Brisbane and may have to have one freigted

Thanks all for your help in advance

Hey mate, you could always get your diff reconditioned if you are happy with the ratio, sounds like you are running 3.46 by the rpm. I can give you the guy I use for diff work if you want to go that way, he is at Kedron.

You will have a 3.08 ratio have a look on ebay there are stacks of them, why dont you change your oil your self first, a whining diff can last a long time depends on how bad it is and how much you flog it

Based on that RPM (1900 @ 100kph) the diff ratio has been changed to 3.46. Speaking from my own experience (going from the standard 3.08 to 3.46 in an auto).
Good suggestion with the oil change - wouldn't hurt to try.

his name is Lincon, on 0407 767 082.
Get him to have a listen to it, and he can probably advise the best fix.

From what your wrote 0576 part number is a v6 diff

I picked two up from ebay same part number for 130 dollars

The one you want is 0580 thats the proper v8 diff

As long as you dont do burnouts or thrash the crap out of the car everywhere just pickup an 0576
which is a 3.08 lsd from memory.

I have had my VX SS LS1 from brand new and this is the info on my LSD:

The casing number is: 0576 039902 - Ratio 3.07:1 same number you posted in your original post.

It also has a white label/sticker on it with quite a bit of info on it. With 3.07:1 on it.
