Im having issues with my VF Calais V remote Control, I have to be within approx 5 metres to open or lock the vehicle. This is usleless if I want to remotely start the car to turn on the climate control, I may as well just open the door and start it normally. My mate has just purchased the same vehicle and he can start his from 50 mtres away.
Has anyone else experienced this issue..?
The owners manual says can be operated within 100 mtrs..? Holdens again are saying it is working correctly..

The range, as described, is under perfect conditions.
Are you finding the issue primarily in one or two repeatable locations? Range and reception can be easily affected by outside interference on many cars (power lines being the main one), or the proximity of competing devices to the remote.
These include things like laptop computers, mobile phones, tablets, personal music devices and radio systems.

I have, with my old one. You'd have to press a few times before it opens sometimes as well having to be in close proximity before it recognizes the signal. Changed the batteries, worked a bit better. Improved the range, A BIT and responds way better than it used to. Try changing yours, if it doesn't work I'd say go crazy on Holden. I think if you complain enough, they might just replace it and just shrug it off as a manufacturing problem.

I had this problem with a new VE Calais.
I had to stand with the key about a foot away from the ‘C’ Pillar for it to work. All my other cars worked anywhere around the yard and in the house.
The dealer said they occasionally have the problem and they fixed it at its first service.
It worked perfect after that.
Back to the dealer I say and see if it works ok there and that way you’ll also know if you have household interference or not.
And if it doesn't work at the dealership, demand it be fixed or speak to Holden.

Thanks for your reply Davo, it seems to be in all locations, My boot is completely empty as this is where the transmitter is located and it doesnt seem to matter what environment I try, it doesnt improve. I have Holden customer care looking at it now and It goes into my dealer tomorrow to hopefully sort it out.
Cheers...

One other option can cause issues with remotes, now that I think about it.
Does your car have metallic tint on the windows?

Thanks Tom, Not much luck unfortunately, they are telling me that no fault was found and it is opening the vehicle so as far as they are concerned it is working.??? even though i have to be within 10 mtrs. pretty frustrated to tell you the truth, why have a remote start option if I have to be that close that I may as well open the door and start it normally..?
I had a VE SSV prior to this and the distance to unlock and lock was much greater.
Cheers....

Remote Vehicle Start/Active
The remote vehicle start function allows engine starting while not in the vehicle. It also allows the vehicle HVAC system and other vehicle systems to enable, providing a comfortable vehicle upon entry. The remote vehicle start sequence begins by pressing and releasing the lock button and then pressing and holding the remote vehicle start buttons on the keyless entry transmitter. The turn signal lamps will illuminate to indicate the vehicle has received the remote start request. Each time a remote vehicle start is performed, the vehicle doors are locked, however they may then be unlocked/locked with the transmitter at any time. Only the first and second vehicle transmitters are able to control the remote vehicle start function. Any additional remote transmitters programmed to the vehicle will perform all other remote functions. Once activated, the engine is allowed to run for 10 minutes. The remote vehicle start time may be extended by an additional 10 minutes by again pressing and releasing the lock button and then pressing and holding the remote vehicle start buttons on the transmitter. This feature is called a remote vehicle start continue and allows a maximum of 20 minutes of engine running. If the remote vehicle start continue is performed at 7 minutes into the initial 10 minute time-out, a total of 17 minutes of engine running would occur. The remote vehicle start event may be suspended at any time by pressing only the remote vehicle start button on the transmitter or by entering the vehicle and turning ON the hazard lamps.
In between ignition cycles, only two remote vehicle start events may occur or be attempted. Once two events or attempts have been made, future remote vehicle start events will be suspended until the vehicle is started using the ignition.

Are both keys identical with their range?
