Hi Guys

recently joined after a friend I made suggested for me to join on here. My 05 Holden has a HBD Holden By Design plate in the engine bay, but it appears to be heavily scratched and abit damaged. I managed to buy a spare one for it and asked HBD HSVi whether they might be able to help me, but they advised that they have sold all their stamping machines and are able to do stamping anymore, but did say they would ask around and see if anyone could help me.

Now Im just being proactive here and seeing if anyone on here might be able to help me out and point me in the right direction of who would be able to do this for me? Attached is an examle of a plate which I found on the net and shows the size and style of the letter punch.

anyone able to help me?

Thanks
Andy

p.s is anyone able to post a photo on my be half?

Blackwoods would have number and letter punches in a similar style to the picture, just work out what height the letters are and buy a set of punches to suit and practice a lot before stamping a plate you only have one of. Its going to be hard to match the accuracy of machine stamping with hand punches but it can be done if you're patient and careful.

Careful measurements, some masking tape over the plate so it doesn't get marked by rebounds, transfer the measurements to the tape on the plate draw some guidelines and use some angle aluminium strips as punch guides to keep them straight, done "right" you'll never pick it ;)

Done wrong people will point and laugh behind your back...

Plenty of engine rebuilding machine shops have stamp sets mate.

I am sure you could get one to stamp it for you.

Very true IJ.

Some of these people can be so picky they carry on about having non factory rivets

Can get numbers and letters for around $30.... not a lot of cash these days

One thing to keep in mind if he stamps them himself is the less complex the character the lighter you need to hit the stamp, i.e if it's an I or a 1 not so hard ;)

Surely if the HBD option plate is so important to you, an original one would be better than a counterfeit one?

V8lover can you forward a picture of your 'scatched' HBD plate, I know of the car with the picture of the plate you sent and it has been stamped different to most as the owner worked at Elizabeth.......

Aren't the rivets special and not available after market. A bit pointless going to all the trouble to restamp a plate and ruin it with incorrect rivets.

Aww man i was going to keep our build plate stamper when i found out we were closing but thought i would never need it. I.ve had quite a few requests for build plates from dealers who have had cars damaged and want replacement plates. Wish i had kept it now...😎😎
Cheers tezza

V8 Lover I think it would be best to keep the plate, a replacement would always lead people to think the options are not original. From the pic the scratches do not look deep, maybe a light polish would make it look better, being careful not to remove the black printing on the plate.
