Hi all,

I have to replace the in-tank pump on a VX commodore soon and i remember trying to remove these 3 clips that connect the lines to the pump being a complete asshole to do. Ive been told there is a special little tool that goes over then and holds the clip part in, allowing an easy removal? Is this tool the one i need? If so, where the hell can i buy them, IN STORE. Hoping to get it done tomorrow, dont really wanna wait on eBay delivery etc.

Supercheap, Repco, Bursons ... loads of places sell them mate:cheers:

Some people slice up the end of a water bottle and use that instead of buying the tool.

I checked on the supercheap site and couldnt find them. The only thing that comes up when searching looks different to the ones ive shown. Bursons shows 0 results in their search function.

naturally i am going to call around in the morning before making any moves, was just hoping someone had bought them recently and can give me a definite answer.

Coke bottle cut to suit. I think there is a thread somewhere that shows how to do it.

cut down a chalk gun silicone/no nails cap to does the same tube.
plus you can get them off with out tools, squeeze the clips sides and push and pull should come straight off, sometimes takes a few goes

Yeah ive done them before by hand, just an asshole of a job. Maybe they were full of dirt/grit or something. But i remember it taking a few goes alright.

This is a vid I saw using similar to the ones linked at supercheap.

As I posted before & Black VU SS ute posted it is easy enough to make something yourself.

One Tip though. MAKE SURE YOU RELEASE THE PRESSURE IN THE FUEL LINES BEFORE YOU TRY TO REMOVE THE CLIP

I think there is a thread somewhere that shows how to do it.From memory, it goes:
Step 1 - De-pressurise fuel line.
Step 2 - Fit tool to fuel line.
Step 3 - Disconnect fuel line and cover self in fuel, ensuring that fuel runs over face, into ears and all the way up arms :)

One of my favourite jobs on the VT.

Used in conjunction with pliers, this is often one of the main reasons we end up selling a new hose because of a stuffed clip...:hide:

I don't use the pliers just my hands, if it don't come off I use the right tool.

Last time i done one, we couldnt get the off the car at the wreckers by hand, so cut the lines with an old steak knife laying in the dirt haha.
