Thought I'd post this up for anyone interested. http://www.geelongrevival.com.au/

Some years ago there was an event called the Geelong Speed Trials which was effectively a drag race along the Geelong foreshore carpark. It was open to historic, race and muscle cars and drew amateur and professional entries. Special interest cars and notable race drivers were also invited to attend. The event ceased a few years ago, not sure why, but was reinvigorated 2 (?) years ago.

My brother and I had entered his 1980 VC HDT (Brock) Commodore in this year's event, but after a change of plan, I have now entered my GT86 to run in the Production Sportscar Category.

No it isn't a V8 to stir the soul, but will be a bit of fun anyway. Having attended a couple of the Geelong Speed Trial events, it is a car nut's heaven with the bonus of beautiful foreshore and hopefully glorious weather.

Get down there and check it out.

The 3rd annual Geelong Revival Motoring Festival 28th -30th November are pleased to announce entry forms for car Racing and all Motorshow are open

Dear Competitor,
Entry to the 3rd running of the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival is now open!
Once again we invite you to apply for entry to the Classic Sprints on Geelong's superb waterfront.

This year's event we are focusing on promoting motoring culture. With an open-minded approach to what's cool in the area of classic, retro, performance, prestigious or just plain odd. If it has a link to anything motoring we are interested.

This focus not only applies to the racing but also the Classic Motor show, Market and Fashion. If its motoring, retro or old school the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival is the event to celebrates this.

Part of this celebration we will be featuring 'The Touring Legends' along with over 500 classic and exotic cars on show, plus up to 300 cars and bikes racing in the classic Geelong quarter mile sprints.

The big change to this year’s event is that we are now recognised by the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) as the National Classic Sprints.

The National recognition of this event as the premiere classic sprint for Australia underlines the importance and prestige of this event. We expect entry demand to be high, so we encourage you to get your entry in early.

To enter follow the link http://www.geelongrevival.com.au/the-event/sprint-trials/

We have also happy to announce that we are now using ‘CAMS Event Entry’ to help streamline the entry process. If you have entered the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival in the past or used the system before you will have an account. If you have forgot your login then request a password reset otherwise feel free to open a new account.

We also have the traditional paper entries online if that’s easier for you.

For new participants, the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival 2014 Sprint is a ¼ Mile long in the old terminology or 400m in modern parlance. There will be National Classic Sprint Trophies awarded in each class along with an overall event winner based on aggregated and weighted times.

We welcome on board our major sponsors for the 2014. Their support will allow us to promote the event to the wider community. Our thanks also go to the City of Greater Geelong for their valuable support, and allowing us to use the facilities within the event precinct.

Our fundraiser for the event is the Geelong Museum of Motoring + Industry and we invite all participants to join us for the Gala Cocktail Party and official opening of the new Museum on Saturday 29th of November.

Like last year, we intend to send vehicles down the course at intervals and collect them in groups of around 50 (depending on number of competitors in each class), then stop the competition and procession the vehicles back in convoy before starting the next group.

I would ask you to be polite and friendly to our many officials as they help to make this event run smoothly.

They are all volunteers and the event can’t run without them.
If you have any special requirements or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on 03 5215 1181 or email competition@geelongrevival.com.au

The Geelong Revival Motoring Festival and supporting clubs wish you a safe and enjoyable event and we look forward to seeing you there.
